Movie Studio Platinum (tried to upgrade) Vegas, and Soundforge.

NOTE THiS IS LONG BUT EDUCATIONAL, AND INTERESTING, AND WRITTEN BY SOMEONE WHO AS EDUCATED THROUGH HIGHER-EDUCATION, IN THE EIGHTIES, AND NINETIES. SO, THOUGH LONG, IT'S EASY TO READ. (Note the severe absence of the word, LIKE:)

ALSO: ALL-CAPS, are INTENTIONAL both to express strong-disappointment, as well as to emphasize points. If anyone takes it as shouting, so be it. I don't apologize for those people's 'issues'.

LAST, I DID NOT INCLUDE VERSIONS ON EITHER SOFTWARE, OR MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM.  IT IS IRRELEVANT, AS SOUNDFORGE, AS WELL AS VEGAS could BE UPGRADED INDIVIDUALLY, BUT ONLY TO A LATER VERSION, AND NOT TO THE PRO VERSION.

First things first. I have two questions concerning MAGIX website. IS IT TOO DIFFICULT, to put a CONTACT US link on the main page? Or, is MAGIX just trying to avoid being contacted? I would think it would not be too difficult. SECOND: IS IT TOO DIFFICULT, to supply an option on the PURCHASE page, that allows one to CHANGE CURRENCY for the transaction? NOW, BEFORE YOU ANSWER THAT, please listen. I KNOW I can take the amount in EUROS listed, and switch to another page to do the calculation. I deal in EUROS about 2-3 times, in my past and future lifetime. So, NO I don't know or care what the converted number is. I do CARE IF IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN US DOLLARS. ESPECIALLY SINCE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MAGIX does TAKE US DOLLARS. WOULDN'T it be FAR simpler for MAGIX to simply provide an option on that PURCHASE PAGE, that would allow me to change it THERE? SECOND. I KNOW that even if it say's EUROS, that when I provide a CREDIT CARD NUMBER/INFO, that (assuming my card is good), the transaction will go through, and the proper amount based on current exchange rates WILL BE CHARGED to my CARD. I REALIZE THAT. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT response, is that I would not know PRIOR TO APPROVING THE PURCHASE how much it would be in DOLLARS!! Not only is that un-professional, and lame, but, it has helped caused MAGIX to lose a sale(s). I MAINLY do not like companies that BUY OTHER COMPANIES, like MAGIX did, when they hide behind their website, by not even giving a CONTACT US option up front, and to top it off, NOT GIVING A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL THEM AT. NOW, I know better than anyone, that a call-center (I worked in tech-support for 12 years, including the one at Microsoft, Las Colinas, TX (Excel Tech.), adds a good amount of overhead to a business. Sorry. That is a cost of doing business, at least it has been to my knowledge since the Stone-Age...Literally. It doesn't matter what work-arounds, or excuses you or some other might use to defend MAGIX on these matters. The damage was done. Maybe I should go with Corel? Perhaps by the bundled apps separately from different manufacturers? I've NEVER had a problem with the software MAGIX has now taken over development/support of, 15 years before they DID! When I was using SOUNDFORGE 5 standalone. But, not only was I going to upgrade my Vegas version to the latest, but I would've upgraded to Vegas Pro, if my copy of Vegas could've been upgraded. It could not, since it was a different product. No CROSS-GRADES? Are you kidding me? Do you not like making money? Sometimes users start out with a standard version, and if they like it, would like to UPGRADE to the PRO or a better version? But, I guess that is either a difficult concept for MAGIX, or perhaps they would rather I just go away, and spend $400-600 dollars from their competition? BECAUSE I WILL TELL YOU THIS! MYSELF AND THOUSANDS OF YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE FACED WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO UPGRADE TO A pro OR more advanced version OF MAGIX APPS. SINCE MAGIX WILL NOT ALLOW THIS, I PRESUME THEY HAVE THE HOPE THAT ****IF I LIKE THEIR SOFTWARE SO MUCH, THAT I WILL BUY THE PRO VERSION AT FULL-PRICE, AND NOT GET ANY CREDIT FOR THE INVESTMENT I MADE AT A PRIOR DATE ON THE STANDARD VERSION?????

 

W R O N G !!! I WILL never DO THAT. AND NEITHER WILL THOUSANDS OF YOUR CUSTOMERS. I LEARN SOFTWARE VERY QUICKLY, AS TO THOUSANDS OF MAGIX APP USERS. THIS SALE WILL GO TO YOUR COMPETITION, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ADOBE. I HATE SUBSCRIPTIONS TOO. IF MAGIX EVER BEGINS DOING THAT EXCLUSIVELY, THEY HAVE LOST MYSELF, AND MOST OF MY COLLEAGUES TO THEIR COMPETITION. LIKE IN AN ELECTION, USERS VOTES DO COUNT. AND THEY CAN COUNT AGAINST MAGIX, AND FOR THEIR COMPETITION.

Don't bother with some 'personal' offer. FIX your website, the way it should be, and I'll be happy. But, when I DO decide to invest more money in a new NL-Editing software, it won't be VEGAS, or anything you sell. That issue is closed. So is SOUNDFORGE.

I look forward to reading about, trying-out, and eventually making a purchase decision on a wide-variety of professional, and/or standard apps that accomplish the same things. I know many already I'll start with. I deal with video-editing (4K), as WELL as music production with hardware-synths, as well as virtual, and a DAW. I wanted to use Vegas/Vegas Pro for the obvious, and SOUNDFORGE/SOUNDFORGE PRO, for editing samples, and applyinjg effects and overlaying them one over the other. 'audio-compositing', so to speak;))

I love the "HIGHER LEARNING" part. I hope you realize that a post like yours can earn you heaps of scorn. Let me be the first.

Normally, one would expect that someone with "HIGHER LEARNING" would look at the computer screen, read what is there and comprehend what is there.

On this forum screen for Video, the second post under "Important Posts" says, in bold and capitalized:

"THIS IS NOT THE VEGAS PRODUCTS FORUM, PLEASE READ HERE FIRST"

The same message is near the top of the "Off Topic" page.

How could you miss that?

About payment, the currency for payment goes by where you live and the Magix.com site that you have opened, normally the one for your country or region. If you have changed the region, you will get a different currency. You are probably on the page for a different region. Change it!

Again, one would expect that someone with "HIGHER LEARNING" would look at the computer screen, read and comprehend what is there.

Next, if you had looked around, particularly at the very top of the forum, you would have noticed that it says, " The Magix.info Community." That should be a tip that this is a user to user forum, not Magix support. Ranting here gets you no where.

How difficult is it to get Support from the above screen? Someone with "Higher Learning" should be able to read, comprehend, and click on the right buttons.

Hopefully, you will be able to continue on from there.

Tell them exactly what you have and what you would like and ask nicely if you are eligible for an upgrade price and how to get it. You will get an immediate email reply with a Ticket number. Magix will get back to you.

No need for a rant.

As I stated VERY clearly, near the beginning, and end of that post, that upgrading was not my objective anymore. Too much, it’s a rant. In between, it doesn’t matter, since they don’t really read. They skim. Now, thank you for the effort you put in your reply, but it was a waste of time, as my ‘complaint’ was intended for their corporate office. Maybe they have that in a forum. But why should I have to waste time navigating the forums, if they would simply put CONTACT US, on the main page, like most reputable sites? Essentially, I was telling them I would no longer do business with them, concerning Soundforge 14, or Vegas. What also complicated ths matter, was that I bought ‘Sony’ Movie Studio, as a bundle, not the.individual packages.

I’ve tried to clear up the confusion, by not leaving anything out of my reply. Yes, long winded. But if it is read, it will be understood. Maybe even by high-school students;). Thank you, however for your support, though. Good documentation is critical when helping others with problems. ( try it sometime between 3am and 11 am, supporting Reading, in Great Britain. Home of M.Soft UK headquarters, 6 days a week. (1993) If you are going to insult another user, because you think their clueless, don’t accuse them of doing exactly the sane thing you yourself are doing. That is, not reading everything they should be reading on their LED monitor. A rant, maybe it was, but, it was intended be very clear to those who read it. I’m sorry you were obviously ‘put-off’ by it. But, it was never intended for their tech-support, or user-moderated Forums. And I NEVER insulted any other user. Not even now....

I have to agree with everything that other posters have said to you: this is a user to user forum NOT Magix Support so there is really very little point in venting here; also, Magix Vegas products have their own separate forum.
