@mikeb1955 Did it used to import those files? If you're referring to a previous version of the program which one did import your files?

All of the Magix products have imported the files since Sony introduced their 3D camcorders ~2011. Not sure when problems arose, but some of the 3D tools stopped working before Movie Studio was changed from Vegas to Magix versions.

@mikeb1955 Vegas & 'Magix' were never related or were never an upgrade from one to the other. Magix are playing slight of hand offering it as an upgrade, I would put it close to fraud.

The correct upgrade from Vegas Movie Studio is to the current Vegas Pro. it will look & perform just like your old version. You can test it by downloading the Trial if you wish, https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/gb/vegas-pro/

Magix Movie Studio used to be Movie Edit Pro, in 2021 I think it got named to Movie studio.

Vegas Movie Studio & Magix Movie Studio are totally different programs.

Ps, Magix owns Vegas but that's all there is as far as any connection is concerned.

@mikeb1955 I'm sure someone will correct me on this -

Google - Vegas movie studio

It was a scaled-down version of Vegas Pro. It was developed by Sony for its first 13 versions. It was sold in Sony's larger 2016 sale of much of its creative software suite to Magix, who developed Versions 14 to 17. Magix would later discontinue VEGAS Movie Studio in 2021, in favor of the unrelated Magix Movie Studio.

I've had Magix Movie Studio (Movie Edit Pro) since about 2004 right up to the current 2025 version, & I bought Vegas Pro 18 in 2020. then I've bought Vegas Pro 19, Vegas Pro 20 & now the current Vegas Pro 21.

Like I say, Magix Movie Studio & Vegas Movie Studio (or Vegas Pro) were never related & most likely never will be.

Yes, I am aware of this. I also have Vegas Pro. I have always bought updates of both for various 3D video editing features.

Somewhere along the line MEP/MS stopped importing the MVC files. The current Magix Suite has a blue bar at the bottom of the screen that says "preloading" an MVC file. However, when the process is done, there's only sound without image.

Hi

. . . . Somewhere along the line MEP/MS stopped importing the MVC files. . .. . .

MVC import/export support in MEP was removed, IIRC, about 8 years ago, it was an optional purchase, and was removed due to licensing conditions and requirements imposed by the Blu-ray Disc Association.

Video Pro X can import MVC files, however export or burning to disc may be possible, the option is there however I have no means of testing it at the moment.

Thanks, I suspected it was licensing issues. I can't wait to see how complicated things get with editing suites and Apple's spatial 3D video that is MV-HEVC encoding. ;-)
