Movie studio 18 interface

Aeroman wrote on 7/15/2021, 1:48 AM

Whyyyyyyyyyyy?

Why are you made interface out of movie edit?
This is changes all workflows.
Can i suggest?
I think a switchable interface (like Vegas+ like ProX) would be great idea for.
Editors will be able to choose a different windows and styles view that suit them from your two product. And it will be a remarkable thing in the market, i think.
But i love movie studio! With it's buttons and edit's functions, it's instuments...

@Aeroman Please clarify which "Movie Studio" you love. The old Vegas Movie Studio or the new Magix Movie Studio 18?

Hi

In a nutshell Vegas Movie Studio is ended with v 17, the core program of Movie Studio 18 - note not a Vegas product is Movie Edit Pro so any issues have post in this forum.

See this comment by @browj2 starting from the 5th paragraph for more information.

Good question. It shouldn't really be should it? But only Magix can answer that question. It has been suggested elsewhere that MAGIX marketing is understandably trying to entice current VEGAS MS users to upgrade to their version and using the vegascreativesoftware.com site for that during what is probably a transitional period before it's moved to magix.com.

browj2 wrote on 7/15/2021, 7:44 AM

@Aeroman

Hi,

It has to be marketed in the Vegas part because that is where current Vegas Movie Studio users will look, for now. It will eventually be removed from the Vegas part.

I suggest that you watch the tutorials (mine, in particular) for Movie Edit Pro on the Magix.com website. These will help you greatly understand how to work with Movie Edit Pro (MEP) and, thus, Magix Movie Studio.

There are many features in MEP that were not available to Vegas MS, in particular, the ability to have multiple timelines and importing an existing project into another project on a different timeline.

Another features is that a track is a track; there are no video tracks, audio tracks, title tracks, etc. You are free to put whatever you want on a track.

Lastly, you will have many, many new effects and the possibility of purchasing more along with audio files from the Store within the program. Magix is continually producing content and effects and making them available to users; Vegas was not.

Edit: In fact, I do have an initial question: Will 18 co-reside with 17 without stepping on it?

Thanks. Looks interesting)
But first of all, what I saw was the lack of shortcuts from Vegas apps. A much strange thing! There is a shortcuts keyboard presets from Adobe, FinalCut, but not Vegas's...

and secondly i didn't found ability chaining FX to tracks (as audio as like as video).., FX to media pool's media... Thats was superb functions.

Hi,

You are now using Magix Movie Studio, not Vegas Movie Studio. For questions on VMS, post on the Vegas forum. That is what the message means.

For Magix Movie Studio, post under Movie Edit Pro - same program.

John, With all due respect,I think you missed my added Edit (see below).
But your reply proves my point about the valid frustration and confusion.
a. I am not using Magix Movie Studio and am aware of that.
b. I do know where I am posting.
c. I asked a question about MMS, not VMS. My edit says,
"In fact, I do have an initial question: Will 18 co-reside with 17 without stepping on it?"

@robbif

Hi Robbif, and welcome to the user to user forums of the non Vegas product forums (sic)

Please believe me when I say I seem to be as at a loss as yourself as to some of the answers that are going to be asked by Movie Studio 18 owners but if you are asking if you could have both Movie Studio 17 and 18 reside on the same computer at once I doubt it.

In my experience newer versions of the Magix programs tend to write over the older versions and remove them. However, Magix has stated that it is endeavoring to make older Vegas projects compatible and able to be imported into the new version. How successful and when this is happening I'm not sure. It may be best to raise a ticket with Magix for a definite answer.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for the info. Once I find out the answer Magix, if anytime soon, it will determine whether I jump in and order "it". I'd gladly try it if it didn't stomp on VMS 17, otherwise...well, y'know.
I suppose I could take the discount opportunity, download the installer and wait. At least then I'd have a license I could use (much?) later.
I'm looking forward to what others know or believe and will appreciate everyone's input.
Thanks ahead of time!

@robbif

Hi,

I was reacting to the post by @Aeroman who quoted someone (you?).

As for having both VMS17 and MMS18 installed at the same time, I would say yes and definitely advisable. They are completely different programs. Upgrades to Movie Edit Pro (MEP) typically remove the previous version mainly because Magix has reduced the need for users to download and install the same content for each version which can be time-consuming, and for other reasons.

It may be good for someone, like @inacoveney to confirm this.

EDIT: @sasiuk on the French forum has confirmed that he has VMS16, 18 and MMS18 installed on one machine. MMS18 does not overwrite or remove VMS17.

Good point I have modified 2 of the Important posts to reflect the new situation, I have also asked the creator of the third post to make the same changes.

I honestly can not see why MMS18 would overwrite VMS17. You can have multiple versions of MEP on your computer, and the same with VMS. I have Vegas Pro and Video Pro X on the same computer and no conflict.

But I fully understand the confusion that is already happening and will continue for some time......

No I hadn't seen it mentioned. Thanks for the link.

If I'm reading that correctly it seems it will be replacing Movie Edit Pro as the name for the program when the two fully merge.
