Movie Studio 16 Platinum requested activation. Activation failed.

I have been using Movie Studio Platinum for years. Today I started it and it requested activation. I tried activation and it failed. I unistalled and reinstalled using the serial number I had for the version. I was informed that the number was registered to another user. I looked at my account and the number is registered to me. What do I have to do to get the program working again?

Vegas products have their own forum here.

There should also be a link to the correct forum under Help in the program.
