I just upgraded to the latest version of MEP 19.0.2.49(UPD3) from MEP 2019 and I have only problems with it.

FIRST - all movies in which I used greenscreen and chroma key effect after loading into the new version they look as if they did not generally include this effect. Threshold and Fade Range do not work. In general, the image looks like it has no green component from the RGB palette, but does not cut the green area as in MEP2019. For example I attached file before user chroma key, after chroma key in MEP2019 and after chroma key in MEP2020.

The effect is that all movies that I want to edit have to be processed again and yet the effect is not always satisfactory. For now I use the chroma key from Davinci Resolve, but I didn't buy MEP to use something else for one task.

The second thing, video playback that was supposed to be smoother, for me is stop-motion and generally worse than in MEP 2019. In general, the whole program seems to be much worse and less smooth than the previous version.

The program can hang for tens of seconds and revive after that time. Often, when the program is turned off, it remains in processes, so that subsequent MEP firing causes a message about possible reduced application performance.

I uninstalled the whole, installed on a clean system - still the same problems. I installed on another computer - still the same.

I'd love to go back to the previous version, but unfortunately I didn't save the installation program.

Wow. Same here. Absolute disaster. I am so sad I paid and "upgraded.' My new version 19.0.2.49 (UDP3) is unusable. I place one small video file on the timeline, click play... and all I get is a choppy stop motion preview. This is a nightmare. Only thing I can even imagine or hope is that maybe it is so slow/unusable because Titler 6 and something else are currently downloading under  "Effects" > "Additional effects". But I feel your pain. I will wait and see but as of now.... this is the worst I have ever seen MEP perform.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Without more information about your computer specification, source video file format type and resolution, please read this topic for what information is required we can only guess at what the issue is.

@jerancampy22

Hi

We have had a similar discussion on this before in Feb/Mar 2018, the performance increases in the new 'Infusion engine' use Hardware Acceleration and are real if you have a 4th generation or later Intel processor with integrated GPU, how much depends on the actual processor/iGPU.

Assuming your signature is up to date then your PC spec does not meet the system requirements for MEP 2020 to leverage the performance enhancements with respect to Hardware Acceleration and the graphics card ie:

Onboard, min. resolution 1280 x 1024, 512 MB VRAM and DirectX 11 support (recommended: Intel Graphics HD 520 for MPEG2/AVC/HEVC

The full system requirements are here.

Ok, I am aware of this, so my computer's parameters are:

CPU: i7-3820@3.6GHz, 32GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro ver 1909 compilation 18363.535, GFX: GeForce GT1030 2GB (driver: GRD441.87), System on SSD (PCIe) 1TB, Data disk HDD (overall about) 10TB, motherboard: MSI X79A-GD45 Plus (on Intel X79 Chipset).

So, it's quite good configuration.

Resolution of edited file is fullHD 1080p, and the format is different for different sources of video files, eg. H264 MPEG4 AVC (mp4, mov), Motion JPEG Video, MPEG-H/HEVC (H.265) hvc1.

In addition, there were no problems two weeks ago. Problems arose when I updated MEP2019 to the latest one. Chroma Key has stopped working, there are big problems with smooth playback of the preview and the application remaining in threads despite closing it.

The biggest poblem is not working Chroma Key option, that all my project is unusable now.

The best solution for me would be to make the installation version of MEP2019 available for download.
It is true that I have a subscription service until March 2020, but I am seriously considering extending it.

Greetings,

I've documented earlier in this thread my problems with this version and obviously others have their own problems as well.

My biggest concern is the loading time. When I first load MEP I have to wait about a minute for the cursor to stop "whirling" before I can even load or start a project. After this I can work with the program BUT I cannot access any of the Store content - be it free or purchased - no matter how long I wait with the program open.

To access the Store content that I own I have to

  1. Click on the Store Tab and wait around 30 seconds for it to load. When it's loaded I still cannot access the store content I own.
  2. Then I close the programe using File / Exit and wait for between 5 and 10 minutes. MEP "closes" but task manager shows VideoDeluxe still running in the background - see arttached image.
  3. When this VideoDeluxe entry finally closes I re-open MEP and my content is there.

Following this rigmarole I can open open and close MEP as many times as I like - with or without rebooting the computer - and my content always show. BUT come the next day (i.e. a date change) the whole procedure has to be repeated.

And today Magix has the nerve to keep prompting me to update the update service. They can certainly get that piece of software to work correctly.

Hi Andy.

Yes, hold off updating the Notifier. I have worse problems now than I had with the last update. I am going to try rolling back windows to rectify my update problems.

It would seem that the more content you have bought, the longer all this seems to take to load.

My fear is that it smacks of looking like Magix is thinking of going across to a subscription only service in the future as MEP really doesn't run smooth at all without the Update notifier working in the background now. Shop content is almost becoming useless as is some of the inboard included extras. (At least at my end but not for everyone).

Becoming very disappointed from what at first seemed a very good new version of MEP.

I just received a message to update the Update Service notifier upon opening VPX. I did and for the first time in over a month when opening VPX for the first time since a reboot, the Audio tab was populated.

The database problem may have been resolved.

Did any of you receive this message today upon opening the current MEP, update and then check the Audio tab to see if it was populated?

I have the update John and things are worse for me, not better. Transitions and title effects from the store not opening or missing on first boot up. Effects previously working are now not working and MEP taking a very long time to boot fully. Pausing when adding effects and notifications of files not being able to be loaded.

Hi Ray,

It looks like I spoke too soon. I closed VPX an hour or so ago with the Audio tab populated. Just restarted and it was empty, as was the Store except for the top line adverts. A couple of minutes later, the Store was populated, still waiting for the Audio tab and purchased effects to show up.

Unless others are having the same problems, I don't think that the Update notifier is causing your problems.

All I can say John is apart from my previous problem with the 3D titles everything else worked before the update and MEP has certainly slowed to load since.

Thanks Ray, Thanks John, for confirming I'm not alone.

I'll hold off on the updating of the updater as the last few "updates" have, whilst giving us more effects, have mortally wounded the basics of a once good editing program.

I'm not sure I'll be needing the update service anyway.

Hi John, Ray, Andy

. . . . I closed VPX an hour or so ago with the Audio tab populated. Just restarted and it was empty, as was the Store except for the top line adverts. A couple of minutes later, the Store was populated . . . . .

Similar here for VPX, however the Audio tab was empty before updating the Service Updater and still is after 3 restarts this afternoon and evening.

MEP also updated the Service Updater this morning and is showing none of these issues and is loading quickly (for my laptop).

@johnebaker

Hi John.

When I said MEP takes time to boot fully, the program loads at around the same speed as before, as does any project I then open. What then takes time is how long I have to wait to add an effect or transition. The program freezes for anything up to just over a minute initially. After that it works normally. The program will freeze if I try to select one of the 3D titles after it's told me it can't find the file and I've shut the warning dialogue for about the same amount of time.

Addendum.

After timing MEP. It takes ten seconds to load the program before the 'choose your project' dialogue comes up. Once chosen it takes around seven to ten seconds to load a project depending on size of project and location.

If the 'Ultimate Video Content Package' has loaded in the Template section then all my additional content is in the Template and Audio sections.

However. Trying to access a 3D title (3D Animation Basic : 3D Static Basic : or 3D Decorative Basic) ends in a forty seven second freezing of the program after I close the 'Failed to Open' dialogue box.

I have just this second noticed one other odd thing.

With the selections that work the following dialogues are the same.

Where they don't work I get the project title instead as a file that doesn't exist.

Ray.

Greetings,

OK now I'm frightened.

This morning, about 15 minutes ago, I turned on the computer and booted up MEP to start the "initialising" sequence as described above.

After clicking on the Store tab I was amazed to see that all my content was loaded and when I tried to open a project there was (virtually) no lag at all!

I need to try that again tomorrow morning. Scary or what?

Comparing the 2 images to what I get:

Titles - this is where I differ - where you have the project title my information bar is empty.

This is, IMO, correct as there is no further information needed to be displayed for a title, this also applies to many other options in the Templates tab.

When you upgraded to MEP 2020 did you also re-install all the extras, ie templates, titles, effects etc?

Hi John. Everything except the Demo Project.

I've also Figured out that the bottom bar I was worried about is only showing information on the object selected on any given track in the timeline and pressing the < > arrows skips to the next object, be it a JPEG, video, or audio object.

I also had no problems with additional shop content loading this morning. Just my normal previous problem.

Greetings,

Change of date and the loading of MEP is back to being both annoying and time consuming.

I knew it was too good to be true.
