Movie edit pro 10: insert animated GIF files

I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro-10.

I wish to import an animated gif into a new movie, but no GIF I import will show as animated.

They all show just the first frame of the animation.

MEP 10 is OLD! I no longer have the computer on which it was installed so can't test, but suspect it just plain can't do animated GIFs. If you want/need to continue using MEP10 a work around might be to download the free trial of the newest version, put in your GIF and export as a short .mpg clip. MEP 2016 certainly can do the job.

(How old? I found a 2010 page that said MEP 14 was itself 'old' back then!)
