.MOV video corrupt or missing

Hi there

 

 

I'm using movie edit pro 2016 premium and any video i import in .MOV format is corrupt or missing. The audio is fine though.  Quicktime is installed and up to date.  Mep installation is on a win 10 machine and was done after the upgrade to win 10. Mep is also up to date.

 

The mov files play fine on my machine, the problem only seems to occur when they are imported to mep.

I've had a look through the forums and no one seems to have a definitive answer other than first converting the mov files to a different format.  My problem there is that there are a lot of them and they are all in the 350mb size range.

 

Can anyone offer any other ideas?

Hi

MOV files are 'container' files and can contain various different formats of video and audio files.

Use MediaInfo to analyse one of the MOV files to determine what the actual codecs are inside and post the results from the Tree view of the analysis.

What is the source of the MOV files?

the files are from a genius dashcam.

When you start a new project, using your normal settings, and import an MOV, do you get a mesage asking if you want to adjust? If so, on answering No, does the video still refuse to appear on your timeline?

Thanks for the MediaInfo information - it is difficult to read - however:

The video portion is standard AVCHD video and the values look normal.

However the audio is ADPCM which I can find no information or evidence that MEP supports this audio format either on import or export.

In MEP's settings (Y key) on the Video/Audio tab try unchecking Import video with sound.

This should import the video only - if this succeeds then the problem is with the sound.

The only option then is to try a video converter, eg AnyVideoConverter, (use at your own risk)  to convert the dashcam video to a standard HD format that MEP can read.

the video always appears in the timeline, whether i adust or not.  then while watching the clip in the preview window, the video/picture is corrupt or missing and the audio if perfect.

tried the no audio option, still the same problem.  will try converting the files.
