. . . . What do people use to import or convert Quicktime videos . . . .
It all depends on the on the video encoding format (see note below), MOV is a container file format not a video format. Assuming you have Magix Movie Studio:
h.264 (AVC) with AAC encoded audio - will import directly without the need for QuickTime (QT)
QT, JPG or PNG - require QT installed
Prores, All-Intra, 10 bit (HDR) or greater, and others are generally not supported by Movie Studio.
Note:
To determine the encoding format, download and install MediaInfo and analyse one or more of the clips from the camera(s) used, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
In the Video section of the analysis you will see the encoding format information - see example below:
Video ID : 1 Format : ProRes Format version : Version 1 Format profile : 4444
If you require further advice post the encoding format(s) of the video(s) you have.
For converting video formats the most popular converter is Handbrake, there are many others free and paid for available from the Internet
Very helpful. Thanks. Previously, on my old pc I used Vegas MS. Many times when importing video from my iPhone It might import with no audio or other times stock clips might just be black. I would just open it in Windows Movie Maker and export it as WMV. I’m still not an expert but getting better slowly.
