What the hell??
Spent weeks working on this project, I come back to it today and more then half my song has been deleted??
I didnt use any of the soundpools all was recorded using my own instruments through the mic straight on to MM platform and now its all gone?? I have looked in recovery and back up but nothing there and the file says theres no previous versions to revert too?

Im not holding my breath for a usable reply but still what the hell Magix, this completely sucks!!!

Hi

Please note that this is a user to user forum not Magix Support.

Depending on the version of Music Maker (MMM) the auto backup feature had a bug which has been fixed.

. . . . recorded using my own instruments through the mic straight on to MM . . . .

Were the recordings saved as well as the project - IIRC you should be prompted to do this after each recording - are they still in the Recordings folder as specified in the programs settings Folders tab?

Oh trust me I learnt the hard way a long time ago Magix has no support line, and people here are just guys like me trying to figure stuff out. Its a shame because this platform has the possibility of actually being good. However bugs or not there always seems to be an issue that wipes out much of my hard work. I cant continue to keep throwing money away hoping it gets better. I have saved all my work because I learnt earlier on, once magix wipes it there's no getting it back. However regardless I have to try and rebuild my songs using the saved data is time consuming and soul crushing. I cant keep trying to rebuild all that work just for Magix to find another way of pissing in my pocket through lost data. Thanks for the reply dude I know you didnt have to do that. I agree with all you have said and have been doing exactly that for over a year, but still I loose my work and my mind.

If the automatic backup is on but not working, and even if it is working, do like most of us do, Save as and append a revision code, like rev1,2,3,4..., after every session or before doing something complicated like adding plugins.

I have trouble understanding how the program would delete objects from the arranger by itself after saving and closing MusicMaker.

If you don't have automatic backups of your hard drive, you may want to consider it, and soon. Hard drives do fail, and then you would lose a lot more than just one project.

Magix has support. You raise a ticket with them, providing sufficient detail so that they can help.

Thanks guys. Yeah my hard drive may be the issue. Because I have been constantly saving and backing up all my files. Maybe it crashed while I was away from the computer and messed up the primary file. I need to think about upgrading the hardware. The computer is pretty old by today's standards. Thanks again.

Hi,

I am having a similar problem with Magix Music Maker version 28.0.3.51. When I save a project and then reopen it, parts of the project (objects) are missing and not always the same ones! I have attached the latest example in jpeg below. The top picture shows my saved arrangement, note track 3 around bars 25-29. I then closed the program, reopened it and the object at bars 25-29 is missing (see the picture at the bottom)! I am saving under a different name and my computer is less than a year old, plus I am using Cakewalk, Live and Cubase without problems. Any suggestions please!

I don't know if this is related, but after a previous problem with the program you suggested I download a version of Java, which I did. When I start my computer I now get a message saying a later version of Java is available, should I upgrade?

Cheers,

Russ

@russell-cross

I guess it could be related, but Mike's problem is with audio recordings so maybe a separate thread would be better. I ran into the same problem.

@Mike-Sutcliffe

Which version are you using?
