MMM 2020 premium edition. No playback sound for vocals.

Hello,

I'm new to the DAW world and really looking forward to exploring the possibilities. I purchased MMM 2020 premium edition because of the great offer and looking to work with a friend across the country using MMM also.

My issue - once I record a vocal track I cannot hear it. I can see that the instruments from MMM and the vocals recorded. But only the instruments play back but no vocals in the headphones. I do not have it muted and the monitor is on.

The set up consists of a Soundcraft signature 10 usb board connected via usb cable to a 2011 HP laptop with Windows 10. I'm listening through the headphone jack on the mixing board, the soundcraft drivers installed and loaded in the settings, the soundcraft chosen in the computer sound settings for speakers and Microphone. I get a bit of latency when recording the vocals so I would think that means I am hearing the mix when recording.

Thank you,

Hi

. . . . once I record a vocal track I cannot hear it . . . .

Did you turn off the tracks AUDIO REC mode so that the button turns dark - if not you cannot hear what you have recorded.

Hi John,

You nailed it!! Thank you!

But I do hear popping and cracking. I'm thinking I need to play with buffer and Hz??? Would you have a starting point?

Thank you so much!!

@Flyingfish

Yes, if you are hearing popping and crackling the first thing you should try is to increase the audio buffers. I'm not sure what you mean by Hz?? Hz in standard use refers to "frequency" or the pitch of a sound. Changing the pitch is not going to effect any difference with the popping and crackling problem!
