MMaker 28 Update Fails on Win10

AutoManic wrote on 7/20/2019, 10:56 AM

In the middle of a project, notice comes up to upgrade so I foolishly take the time to do so. Now my tracks will not maintain the horizontal width setting to view more at once on screen - horizontal global shrink does not work well as a result. Set one fine, but set the next track width and it pops the last one back to full width. It's very hard to work like this.

Next, now I cannot export to any format - saved .wav, wma files do not play anywhere. This was the case on my very first version of MusicMaker. It was useless software until one version was able to export. Now it's back to brick. Presuming I need to wait for 29 but help would be appreciated in the meantime, thanks.

@AutoManic

Hi and welcome to the forum.

In Music Maker check the following:

  1. You are logged in to the Store, if not login using the email address and password used to register the software by clicking the Store tab, Gear wheel.

  2. You re-downloaded and installed all the extra content - using the Download all purchased content option in the Store tab.

  3. Check that your previous version(s) of Music Maker has/have been activated in Help, Activate content ....

Then restart your computer.

None of this robot response seemed to apply to the problem, but i followed instructions. Absolutely nothing has changed as expected. This is a bug issue.

Sarcasm is not helpful if you want people to help you with your issue - please read the Community rules - link is at the bottom of the page.

The steps I posted previously are exactly those I had to go through to get full functionality back after upgrading to version 28.x.x.xx some 12 days ago.

Do note that you cannot play the exported files in media players while Music Maker is open, MMM accesses the sound card directly and locks the sound card preventing other programs accessing it, this it does by design in order to reduce latency.

If you still have the problem then I would suggest you raise a ticket with Magix using the Contact link at the bottom of the page.

Hi John, apologies for the sarcasm - thought it was a copy/paste answer (used to bad answers from Microsoft). After taking the steps there was no change to functionality. The tracks do not maintain the width you set - if you minimize width on all tracks temporarily they will open minimized on opening a project but immediately spring to full width if you touch anything. No more than 4 tracks can be viewed at once as a result, so challenging to create anything.

Hi there,

Sorry about this issue. The current problems surrounding the track height settings reverting back to the wrong size through certain actions (including e.g. vertical scrolling in the project) have been reported and will be addressed in a future update. If you follow the solution under Jeff's link and use the Tab key to toggle back and forth between the two sizes (rather than using the track/header context menu), you should find that the changes will stick and the program will remain on the desired track height. So, this should work for the time being.

Cheers!
