Missing Vita

SteveP-UK wrote on 4/4/2020, 2:39 AM

I've been using your excellent Music Maker software for a while now - more than a few years :). I just upgraded again to MM Plus. A recent crash on my main PC meant I had to reinstall everything again - luckily I'd backed-up my soundpools and other extras as well as my additional purchases. All is working fine, but I have a few problems with various Vita add-ons. I can install them OK from my backup installation files - see attached list, but when I try to use some of them it says they require activation (which I guess is normal) - trouble is, I can't figure out WHERE to activate them AND what activation code to use.

Some are working (Jazz Drums is OK) but those I've discovered that are affected are:-

Lead Synth

Pop Drums

Drum Engine

..and there may be others that don't work, I just haven't found them yet :)

Might you have a record of the activation code at your end? I've checked my account but I can't find the necessary information.

Many thanks

As a 'Plan B', if I can't fix them, can I re-purchase them - and if so, how/where?

Thanks a million 👍😁

Steve

Hi

. . . . All is working fine, but I have a few problems with various Vita add-ons. I can install them OK from my backup installation files . . . .

Assuming the backup files are form your previous version, then you need to download and install them again, they have been updated for MMM 2020.

Additionally if you also had to re-install Windows - you can activate all the Instruments and extras that were in the previous version by entering the older versions serial number in to the Help, Activate edition dialog.

Cheers John. Daft Question of the Day: I can't seem to find the updated versions. I'm obviously using the wrong search term within MM, how do I locate them?

Hi

Nest to the Store tab there should be a Download tab select it and click the Download all button to get everything.

Correction: to activate the old version features etc the option is now called Activate Content under Help.

Hi,

To go along with what John EB mentioned, you should try using all activation codes that you may have. I received new instruments with each version over the years, including Samplitude Music Studio, so I put in each activation code. There is a limit going backwards, however, so you can stop when they no longer activate.

Thanks! Good idea. I'm going to do just that. I guess I just keep adding the various serials from years gone by (think I started around 2008!). Am I right in thinking that as I add the additional serial numbers, I should see my past 'stuff' start to appear in the download tab?? Cheers! Steve

Hi Steve,

The activation works from generation MX/18 to generation 2017 and for certain generations of Samplitude Music Studio, so you can't go all the way back to 2008.

As for what now happens, I'm not really sure. I did this when the system was new and the process has changed since then. What may happen is that, if the instruments are still installed on the computer, they will be locked in MMM and activating with the linked activation code unlocks them. If not installed, they may become unlocked in the Store and you can download and install them. They may show up in the Downloads Manager.

Could you watch what actually happens when you apply the activation codes and report back?

Cheers John. I had one Activation Code. Tried it and it said 'token not valid'. Think I may have to revert to 'Plan B' and repurchase the latest Vitas from the store. Not sure whether they'll replicate everything I had, but it's a step in the right direction!

Appreciate your suggestions in getting me this far everyone! Just hate this, when you have to re-buy stuff you know you already own! 🤔

Hi Steve,

Purchasing a lot of instruments individually from the Store will be very expensive. You may want to look at getting the deals/packages like Premium, that give you a lot of credits. Click on upgrade for Premium on the Magix site to see cost and the number of instruments, presently 6 instruments + 2 tiny instruments.

Alternatively, you could look at getting Independence complete, 70GB, that includes all instruments available except some of the newer one, and many, many more. This is probably the most cost-effective method.

Good point - thanks! I recently bought the 'Plus' edition - will the Premium edition upgrade recognise what I already have in terms of Soundpools and other stuff I've bought since - compared to what Premium offers for free? In other words, I don't need lots of Soundpools that I already have, that came as part of the freeby-downlands with the Plus Edition?

Cheers, Steve

browj2 wrote on 4/4/2020, 2:23 PM

@SteveP-UK

You just get more credits. You decide case by case what you want to use them for. Premium has some other things that don't come with Plus, so you should review the comparison table on the Magix.com site. Note things that are "Freely selectable."
