missing gray chord bar

Robert-Vincent9653 wrote on 2/15/2021, 3:42 PM

excuse me if I am asking a question for something that has been changed. but i have music maker 2020 premium. It used to have a gray bar at the top that told me what chord I was in. that was easy because I knew what chord progressions went together well. the bar is gone, and i only get the #1-7 dots on the right. Is there a setting to get the bar back? or is it gone for good in the 2020 edition? Thank you.

Hi

Check:

  1. that you are on the latest version 29.0.5.32 - there were Pitch bar issues with earlier versions of MMM 2021.

  2. the Pitch bar is turned on -

Note: the pitch bar does not appear until a loop is added to the timeline.

@johnebaker

Hi John,

I do believe that it's broken. On both of my computers, Show Pitch Range is on by default and nothing shows up when adding loops. If I toggle it off and on, here is what I get:

Definitely not the pitch bar.

Hi John(s)!

I see something similar to what John CB reports, but have found that toggling that option off then on - it's always On by default for me - causes it to appear! Go figure!

@Robert-Vincent9653

Can we be clear about exactly which version and variant you have? In your question you say music maker 2020 Premium, which is version 28 but John EB is actually talking about version 29. Which do you have (you can check under Help>About)?

I will try to keep the story as short as possible. in he end of 2019, I purchased music maker 2020. since that time a data breach at magix (this was confirmed from my IT department, it magix and not us) allowed someone to steal every magix program and put it in their own email and password. It took many many days , emails with proof that i purchased the programs, etc, and an act of congress to get them to change at least my movie studio 16 and 17 platinum suites back to me. unfortunately that did not fix all of the additions that came with the suites, nor did it fix the 2020 music maker premium I paid for (and had proof of serial number, emails with puchase numbers, etc.). Magix (i assume from germany) put the program back to my email, but I found they left it in "free version". After I approached them again yesterday to tell them It was still not right, I was told I had to create a new ticket, since they closed the original one. I was so tired I purchased the 2021 upgrade. NOW i have the bar back. I have to tell you, Magix makes some fantastic programs. I use them for almost all of my video and drone productions. but their customer service is GARBAGE, GARBAGE, GARBAGE. Their chat argues with you. their support takes 2 weeks to return a verdict, solves half a problem, closes the case, and you start in the death spiral all over again. I really wish they would have an American contact. the moderators of this group have been great in guiding me, and i thank them. but I am really disgusted with Magix. Anyway, after paying for it (again). I got the bar back. I needed it, and had no choice. and thank you for everyone that offered advice and help.

@Robert-Vincent9653

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear everything is now up and running again for you.

Speaking personally, I have to say I don't find Magix Support to be anything like as bad as you suggest(!). I'm interested in your mention of a chat system; where did you see or access this, since telephone support, at least, is not something Magix has offered, except for some Pro products, I think, for some time?

Clearly, I can't comment on the situation regarding your email breach; it's the first I've heard of any such thing and it is very concerning. But I wonder whether it has affected anyone else?

Anyway, happy Music Making and Video Production!

I believe from what I read on the internet, the free version (even if linked to the owner) does not get all of the items (the chord bar being one of them).

So, even though I paid for it, and Magix did not reactivate correctly, it was stating it was the free version.

after i had to purchase 2021 premium, I installed, registered under the new serial number, and Bobs your uncle.
