MIDI notes start at 1:1

HI, firstly you'll need to keep in mind that I am NOT from a musical background and I am just playing around with the Dance Edition 6. Mostly for fun and if anything ever comes out of it, then great!

I am trying to put in a midi channel from a virtual vocals generator (Plogue AlterEgo vst). So I created a MIDI track and double clicked it so I can 'draw' the notes.

On replay it seems to loop grid 1:0 - 1:4 (even though my yellow 'section replay' bar is longer), so that is my first problem; how do I get it to play more that just that first bit?

Secondly, I can't move my notes below 1:1. So while I have a 4 note sequence, it plays Pause-One-Two-Three and then skips my 4th note...

Visually, it shows a thick blue line on 1:1 and 2:1, which I can't work out what is symbolises...

Any help with this would be appreciated, and please keep in mind; I know little jargon!

Thanks

Pat

That's odd. If I use the MIDI editor I cant even see the part before 1:1. It looks like your MIDI objects starts in negative time. Can you replicate this behavior every time?

The blue line shows the end of the loop. You can drag it with your mouse from right to left. Every note after it will not be played. That is why the notes have a different color.

Hi

What is the version of Music maker as found under Help, About and is it the Free, Plus or Premium version?

The version I am using is Magix Music Maker Dance Edition 6 version 21.0.4.50

O, and SP, things just got a bit weirder. After making this post I played around a bit more. I ended up deleting the Midi track and starting from scratch. I figured the blue lines were something to do with a loop sample due the the different colour of the notes beyond, however I cannot seem to move them...

Now, when I reopened the project, my midi track suddenly starts at -5:0 (or -6:4), with notes starting at -5:1 even though that is not how I saved it... The blue loop lines sit at 1:1 and 2:1...

@P-vanderHelm

Hi

. . . . Magix Music Maker Dance Edition 6 version 21.0.4.50 . . . .

This is a 17 year old special edition of Music Maker, which version of Windows are you running the program on?

If Windows 10, then this may be the issue, the software was certified for Windows up to and including XP and is not compatible with Windows 10.

17 years! Man, that means I am getting OLD! Jeez, doesn't feel that long ago...

Actually, upon checking, it was purchased on 22 April 2016, direct from Magix website... Why would you sell 13-year old software?! Especially if it only supports up to XP, which' end-of-support was already announced...

I better post this now, because the more I think about this the more annoyed I get...

FYI, yes, I have upgraded to Win10 now... Is it possible to run in compatibility mode, or would that not make much difference...?

That can't be right. A Google search suggests this version was around 4 or 5 years ago. Music Maker 2015 had the same version number.

Yeah, that seems about right... I found this review article from June 2015, which sort-of suggested it was fairly new. It also has a download link which I don't know if it is legit.... However, it suggests it should run up to Win10...
