Midi file on track2 and guitar on track1 will not play back together

I have a HP Satellite Lap - standard AC97 Realtek driver.

I plugged my guitar into the microphone input for recording on track1, then I load a backing

midi track to track2. I then chose to the Audio/Midi settings and chose the ASIO and used Magix low

latency driver. The midi output was set to CoolSoft Virtual MidiSynth.

The guitar with effects added recorded but I could not hear the midi (I did have the playback during recording checked) when recording the guitar or when I played back the guitar.

Please help.

If I use the AC97 Realtek driver instead of the Magix Low Latency driver...the midi track will play and I can record the guitar onto track 1 but I loose my real time (live monitor) effects ability which is the reason I wanted to purchase this software.....to be able to hear the guitar with the added effects in real time along with my midi backing track!

Get in the habit of having all yur settings set before yu record.  once yu have a good recording, save it , make a copy of it and if you want to mess around with settings and make changes that might mess up your recording, you'll still have a good copy of the original.  If possible try to make a neww recording without the "Playback while recording " checked...it seems that in the past there was a little trick to that , but i can't remember how I fixed it but while I was recording track 2 while track 1 was active and playing back over my earphones, I was , in effect, overwriting track 1 but since there was "no music" being added to track 1, it was simply overwritten with....nothing.  Wish I could be more helpful but maybe Ive given yu some ideas to play around with.  Good luck

You may also want to try exporting one of the midi tracks as a .wav or .mp3 file then bring it back into Magix as the first track and your other midi file as track 2.

Remember to turn off the recording button on track one, if you are recording.

Try then to playback both and see if it combines the 2 if so you are ready to export both as one file combined. Hope this helps!
