MEPP - Get white color in texts backgrounds

calamar wrote on 7/27/2020, 3:55 AM

Hello,

I'm using Movie Edit Pro Plus and I'm using a font for titles simulating the "Dymo" stickers. Unluckily, letters are not filled so you can see the video inside the letters and looks quite difficult to read.

I was trying to draw a white square under the text, so it will get letters in white and they will be completely readable. But I don't find any tool for doing basic drawings. Also, I don't know if there's a better way to get this.

Any idea?

Thank you!

Hi

. . . . using a font for titles simulating the "Dymo" stickers. . . . .

Is the a new font you have downloaded and added to Windows?

If so can you provide a link to it.

Hi

Thanks for the link

The issue is caused by the lettering having transparent parts which lets the background image show through.

The easiest fix I can see is to add a border to the text as shown below

The disadvantage is the small border around the outside.

Adding a white image between the title and background and sizing it to be hidden by the black part of the title is also possible, however you have to do this for every section of the title.

Thank you John!

I tried with the blank image and it works. It's true that I need to do it for every single piece of text but the result looks like more like the old Dymo tapes 😊

Thanks for your help!

...It's true that I need to do it for every single piece of text

Not so. If you group the title and the background image, then right-click on the title and choose "Save as Special Effect", you can re-create it elsewhere from the Templates tab. Simply place the play marker where you want the new title, go to the Template tab, Title Templates, My Own and insert your title (you will have given it a name when you saved it).

You'll have to ungroup the title and the box to widen the box, and then regroup, but that will be quicker than creating the whole thing from scratch.

Remember when using Size/Position to untick "Maintain Proportions".

Or you can group them and simply Copy and Paste.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
