MEP2013ProPlus loading files as stereo 3d

Hi Kids...I shoot video with a Sony HDR-CX150, transfer the mts files from it to my editing computer, and load into MEP Pro 2013 plus from there. Last night I fired up MEP to do some last minute Christmas edits, saw there was an update available, and installed it first. After that, I loaded in some of my mts files. Some loaded fine and some loaded as stereo 3d. They were all shot at the same time. The ones loaded as stereo 3d have a distorted aspect ratio, and the others are normal. When I check the object properties of each, thay appear to be the same size and aspect ratio (1440x1080-16:9) I can delete one of the s3d files from the timeline, and put it back on, but it's still the same. The only way I know it's stereo 3d is it is identified as such in the objects' description on the timeline. Does anyone have any idea what the hell is happening here? I cannot find a clue anywhere. Is it the update? Luckily, when I upgraded to 2013, I left 17 installed, so I can use my older software to get my job done. I would sure appreciate any clues or answers anyone can share. And also, Merry Christmas to everyone here!

Regards,

Bruce

Hi

You are the first person who has reported having the same problem as myself with mts files from a Sony camera.

Magix are aware of this problem which I discovered shortly after MEP 2013 was released.  They have samples of my files which consistently do this and other files taken within minutes of the offending ones for comparison.

I would suggest you email support at Magix and tell them you have the same problem with a different model of Sony camera - also indicate to them that I have already reported this problem.

The fix for now is to select the offending clips and on the Effects tab, select Stereo3D, Properties and change the setting to Standard (2D).

Thanks for the comeback, John. I  will indeed notify Magix right now and thanks for the heads up on a workaround!

John (and others who may be experiencing this problem)

I have been in contact with Ralf at Magix. I explained my situation and also sent two mts files, one that loaded incorrectly and one that didn't. He analyzed them and could find no apparent reason for the strange loading behavior. He then asked me to make sure i was current with program updates, (I was) and then reset MEP to factory defaults, which I did. MEP restarted and then I loaded the two files I had sent him and they loaded perfectly. I closed the program, restarted it and reloaded the files and again they loaded fine. I'm going to track all that I do in hopes of finding the culprit, which may be some sort of setting I changed along the way somewhere. We'll see. Merry Christmas to all!

Hi Bruce,

This issue doesn't actually affect me, but just wanted to thank you for the feedback. Regrettably it's rare we get any at all, much less a thorough status report!

BTW, I think John is away on holiday.
