MEP2013: One quirk afater another...

terrypin wrote on 11/8/2012, 11:12 AM

I'm seriously considering reverting to MX (which has its own flaws), as I'm being hindered by so much flakey behaviour with MX. Reckon I'm spending 10 times as much time on analysing/reporting these as on creative work.

The latest is shown below. I was working with a few images in a work area (i.e. a separate movie).  I dragged in a portrait photo size 1066 x 1463, which opens correctly in any image editor, and it was displayed as shown, size 1082 x 720.  Nothing I tried would get it right, except for restarting MEP 2013. Of course, whatever sequence of events caused it will be virtually impossible to reproduce, but it's bound to happen again out of the blue. Not very confidence inspiring.

In the rush to get this version released it seems that quality control went AWOL.

Hi Terry

I notice in the image the 'Keep proportions' box is unchecked, what do you get if you check the box then bring  the image in.

Also zoom in on that image shown selected and see what it says on the top bar of the image - the part where it gives the filename.

Hi John,

It makes no difference whether that's checked or not. But then I don't see how it could? Until the image is imported it can't be selected and Size/Position used. Unless I've misunderstood what you meant?

All the filenames are consistent, whatever way they're viewed.

Unfortunately, as I said, it's just not possible to reproduce it consistently. I've been trying again with a fresh project, so far in vain. I vaguely suspect it's something to do with collages, because I'd been experimenting with several before this problem arose. But, unlike my earlier post, this time I didn't do any preview rendering.

EDIT: Just a few minutes after I posted this, while adjusting various clip durations and dragging clips between tracks etc, the MEP mouse cursor stuck in the -||- shape (for  dragging window edges) and MEP froze. Had to terminate using Task Mgr.

Hi Terry

I don't know much about this one as I do not use photos much but there has been talk among the German members about a 2013 bug that makes 16x9 DVDs become 4x3 on export even though all settings are correct in the export windows. Sorry but not sure how to search for those posts again, in German.

Like you say - it's one thing after another.........?
