MEP2013: Buggy aspect ratio

terrypin wrote on 2/24/2013, 9:24 AM

This is reminiscent of similar buggy behaviour in MEP 2013 I described some months ago.

In my illustration below, the two objects are identical, with size 2881 x 1621, which is an aspect ratio of 1.778, i.e. 16:9. Both should fill the 1920 x 1080 monitor. But the width of the selected object is shown incorrectly as 1616. This arose after various operations on it (moves, copying, etc) as in the case I reported months ago.

The object's properties show that the cause seems to arise from an incorrect aspect ratio:

It's as if MEP2013 clings on wrongly to a previous set of properties for an object. Or somehow its AR calculation routine breaks down.

I saved the image with a new name from my editor and that was then displayed and reported correctly.

An obscure bug IMO, so I've formally reported it, as it may provide a clue to other strange behaviour.

Hi Terry

I cannot duplicate this one, no matter how much copying, pasting, moving around and replacingI do.

John

Hi John,

Thanks for trying, but I'm not at all surprised, This sort of weird behaviour happens once in a blue moon for me. There's some rare combination of operations that causes it - but pinning it down will probably prove impossible.
