MEP13 Demo File Blockbuster

im_datus wrote on 11/11/2012, 11:58 AM

This demo shows a lot of grey images such as running, group, extreme long shot etc, which if I overlay a photo applys the effect.

my question where do i get those tiles if you like from?

Ive looked everywhere, manual, videos, dvd and double clicking on them doesnt seem to give me any info on what they are :(

I am new to magix.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

None of us here work for Magix, so it would really help if you posted the link to the video you saw and perhaps we can help you re-create the effects that you are looking for.

Good Luck,

George

Hi

I presume you mean this Blockbuster

The 'placeholders' are part of the movie templates used by MEP to reserve space for video and images on the timeline if there are none present.

AFAIK you cannot insert your own placeholders on to the timeline which would kind of defeat the purpose of working on the timeline

See page 185 of the installed pdf manual about using templates, which are preset movie styles that you can apply to your movie.

Hi,

I am not really sure what you are asking.  Here is a screen shot of how this template looks with no video or photograph inserted.

If you want to change it, just delete the place holders and insert whatever you want in their place, just move titles and background to fit with the project you are trying to create.

Did I miss something?

Good Luck

George

Hi

' ... this seems to be the biggest issue i have. im guess im doing it wrong.'

Not really - as we say in the UK you are 'putting the cart before the horse' ie you are looking at it from the wrong angle and I should warn you you may be in for a steep learning curve, especially when it gets to Keyframes - more about that later..

Load the Demo project that was installed with MEP - it should be in this folder if you are using Windows 7 ( if you did a default install of the software.)

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2013 Premium\_Demo

If you go through this you will find that there are examples of some effects and you can then work out how they are done - for example

If you select a clip as shown above, the title bar at the top of it will show you what effect has been applied - in this case Color correction angle and Color correction level.

Click on the Effects tab, Video effects, Color and you will see how this has been adjusted as shown below - I have circled the adjustment

For movements eg pans then you need to learn about keyframe animation - this is an example in the same demo project

Keyframes is a huge subject and has been covered by many tutorials - try looking here in the Tutorials section above, also Google Video keyframe animation for other examples to understand the principles

You may also find these useful, Alwyn who was a regular on the old forum.

Although they are for earlier versions of MEP the principles are the same.

Once you have learned 'the basics'  then you can get really creative.

When you get stuck come back for more.

Happy learning

John

Hi,

To upload a screen shot

Good Luck

OT but...

Excellent annotated screenshots like these from George and John deserve better resolution than whatever measly setting this site allows! Some of the smaller text is barely readable. Am I the only one complaining? I've made several requests for improvement over the last year or so, in vain. How about a few other users adding their voice too?

Meanwhile I usually upload most of my images and use a link as well as an image. But that's a real chore and a burden on my host, so I'd far prefer to see magix.info match the standards of all the other many forums and community sites I use.
