Maybe I need to rephrase my problem, seeing no response to my first cry for help

Because my new download purchase won't activate via Internet, I am trying to activate per alternate tut video. I cannot get mep 2013 to give me the option of entering an activation code manually. All instructions say I need my pc ID to get activated via phone or using second pc. Program immediately brings up window with my s/n and email and tells me to click activate now button. I am trying to figure out how to get my pc I'd. I've emailed support with no reply. So far one full week of dirtying with a paid for program that I cant use. It is becoming very frustrating.

Hi

You did not need to rephrase the roblem - your first question contained more than enough information.

This is a user forum and members 'pop in' as and when they can depending on their time zone.

For this problem you should contact Sales at Magix and they will help you.

Also do you have :

- a software firewall installed on both machines? Eg Zonealarm, Norton or McAfee firewall (as part of their suites) or any other, including the Windows firewall.

- a router or wireless router that has a built in firewall?

Which could be blocking MEP

Hi John,

I apologize for my frustration. I previously was using Adobe CS4 Suite and decided I couldln't afford to keep up with their prices. So after a great deal of reading and studying I decided Magix looked like a great alternative. I have to admit that I moved forward, having already read about the lack of support of their products. I suppose I was thinking positive and thought I'd at least get it installed and working on my PC before running into any product issues. Obviously not.

I've tried emailing to, I think, sales (their site is not the most user friendly), but haven't heard anything back. In more reading I discovered I would get an activation code by doing it manually via phone or 2nd computer. After watching the training tut, it mentions the option to activate off line, but I don't get that option. The only options other than online are fax/mail. I have a second PC and can even get to the activation request for my PC ID, but I can't seem to get my PC ID anywhere. Even when I completely disconnect from the internet, all it gives me are the Activate online right now, or activate via fax/mail.

I've tried completely shutting down McAfee and even bypassing the router firewall by plugging directly into the Internet...nothing. I'm so frustrated because I want to start working with this program and am unable to do so.

John, could you direct me to a correct "Sales" link where I could email them again?

Thank you for your answering my post. I hope once I get it activated the updates/extras which were part of my decision making process won't give me the same trouble.

NOTE: I was easily able to install MAGIX Photo Manager and Sound Cleaner Lab fine. They both installed and activated online with no problems.

Hi

Are these any of the post re activation you are referring to:

http://www.magix.info/uk/where-can-i-find-my-computer-id.knowledge.23017.html

http://www.magix.info/uk/how-do-i-go-about-finding-my-computer-id.knowledge.42765.html

IIRC at the botoom left of the Activate online dialog there is a small link to register offline via post/fax. Your ID code will be displayed there.

John

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestions. I did actually hit the fax and mail links where they gave me my PC ID. When I enter it on my second pc to generate activation it is now telling me the ID is bad. It starts with a longer alpha lead in like the "PR" for the s/n. It starts something like VPD2003VL and then the list of numbers. (I don't have the exact piece of paper with me, so the prefix ""VPD..." may not be verbatum. It does mention the 2003. It is obviously longer than my s/n. I'm wondering whether I put the entire number when entering the PC ID in the activation? Now thata I have the ID it seems ironic that it won't generate my activation code.

Still no word from sales support. Any more insight would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Hi David,

Did you use this route to seek Sales Support?

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/MEP-SalesSupport.jpg

Hi Terrypin,

I believe I did. I received an "auto generated" email on 2/22/13 telling me that someone will respond shortly.

Because I keep trying on my end, circumstances change and I'm updating my original email to keep them informed of what additional information I know. I've been "reply" 'ing to their emails.

Now I have my Computer ID but when I log onto my account and try to create an activation code it tells me its a wrong code.  I've tried entering it putting all in, or leaving the "prefix" off, etc.  It started with VDL2013PL-xxxxx... I've tried leaving the VDL20213 off to make it similar to tne S/N (P2-) and used PL-... but nothing seems to fit.

I'm also unable to open the proposed "manual" method of entering an activation code once I get one. I can see if it takes one week for Support to respond per email, communicating back and forth with exchanging information is going to take weeks before I get anywhere.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate knowing that someone is reading my postings.

Hi John,

I didn't mean to suggest you weren't reading my postings (see previous to Terrypin).

I guess I should have worded it "anyone" and all responses are appreciated. :)

Thank you to all who tried to help me.  Sales eventually sent me an Activation Code that worked on my PC.

Sadly, now when I try to launch the free effects programs that came with my software--they will not Activate.

Not sure about keeping this program. If I need to wait 2-3 days every time I need something activated (i.e., MPEG2 to burn a DVD), I'll have to admit I probably made a wrong software choice here.

In any case, thank you all again. It is a real shame. I already had my eyes on a couple of additional program to full in my total needs.

Hi David,

It would be a shame to give up now you're so close! Send another email to Support and hang on in there a while.
