Making a new collage in MEP

Hi Terry

Pleased you got this one sorted- I would suspect that the effect is being cached and that is what is causing the issue.

What happens if you close the collage project, start a new one close it without doing anything then re-open the collage project to do the substitution.

Cheers

John

Hi John,

Yes, it works fine now that I'm always re-starting afresh.

Thankyou for the tutorial, I would like to expand the range of collages I can use, but I've been unable to find the Collages folder on Win 7.- Open the \Collages folder. On my XP PC that's at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium\VideoEffects\Collage\ but Win 7, 8 (and soon 10) systems will be different.

Anyone able to help?  Thanks!

terrypin wrote on 1/27/2015, 4:18 AM

Hi Suchita,

I still use XP but I believe you'll find all your Magix folders now under C:\Program Data\ instead of C:\Documents and Settings\. So if I was using Win 7, I'd expect to find my Collage folder at:

C:\Program Data\All Users\Application Data\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium\VideoEffects\Collage.

Hi

Small correction to the Collage folder location in Windows 7 and 8 is found at:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium\VideoEffects\Collage

The C:\ProgramData  folder maybe hidden and you will have to reveal it through the folders property panel.

If I remember correctly!!!

Just checked, yes it is a hidden folder.

Hi

. . . . If that's the MEP version she has John. All we know is that she has Win 7! ,. . . .

Very true Terry - thanks.

Corrected path is:

C: \ ProgramData \ MAGIX \ Movie Edit Pro xxxx ttttt \ VideoEffects \ Collage

where xxxx = version number and tttt = nothing, Plus or Premium depending on the version

eg for MEP 2015 Premium the path is

C: \ ProgramData \ MAGIX \ Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium \ VideoEffects \ Collage

Note: I have added extra spacing to make the  \  more clear

John

Hopefully someone will see this on an old thread. Thankyou for posting the information about creating our own collages. I'm wanting to create more of my own, especially as Magix appears to be cutting down on the number in the new versions rather than creating a bigger range. I've tried to follow your instructions but get stuck right at the beginning in finding the 'collages' folder.- C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus\VideoEffects\Collage. I can see no video effects or collages folder. I appreciate any assistance, thanks.

See my info below and screen shot of folders. I'm using MEP Pro 16.0.1.22 (keeping with this one with the most collages).

Hi Suchita,

Your screenshot shows \Program Files, not \Program Data.

i see that your previous post with the same question was after a gap of about 6 months, and this latest one is now about 4 years later. So I assume this is not a high priority! But let us know if you still can’t find the collages.

Thank you John and Terry, I'm now using Win 10. I didn't know about hidden folders, so I will investigate. I appreciate your prompt replies.

Suchita wrote on 6/18/2019, 4:22 AM

It has become more of a priority Terry, I gave up 4 years ago when I couldn't find even the most basic folder, and just used the collages provided, but now I am ready to tackle this again. Thanks again

Yay I found the video effects folder, thanks again

One of these days the subject tutorial of this five year old thread may get re-written. Particularly to incorporate several improvements suggested by John EB. But meanwhile here are the full paths of the \Collage folder for my own two versions of MEPP:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium\VideoEffects\Collage
C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2017\VideoEffects\Collage

Typing %programdata% in the address field of Windows Explorer will open up the C:\ProgramData folder, even when it is hidden. It also ensures that you are directed to correct location and drive in case it should have been set different (NB! NOT RECOMMENDED!)
