The thing is I don't have Edge installed at all, 'cause I removed it completely.
I have no MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe on PC.
I blocked the try to update in firewall.
Question is do Sound Forge need Edge if so why?

Hi

You could look to see if microsoftedgeupdate.exe is found in folder C:\Program Files\soundforge\**some subfolder**, and run your anti virus program in case it's a virus, or maybe Moderator @rraud will have a suggestion.

When you said you removed edge completely, I would try the free Revo uninstaller to ensure everything was removed including any remnants from the registry.

Hello!
I have no microsoftedgeupdate.exe anywhere. I use AceUtlities and regularly clean registry.
I did edit registry as of this:

Hi

MicrosoftEdgeWebview2 is used to embed web page features in your applications, it also uses up unnecessary memory.

It's also part of Microsoft Office365 and Outlook, without it you won’t be able to use Microsoft 365 features (namely Outlook features) which require WebView to run properly.

See this article here on phishing.

You can block it with anti virus software or uninstall it using Revo or third party uninstaller.

I got that Edge update notification a few days ago.. whilst using SF.. I was mystified because I had never seen it before. I closed the window and it did not reoccur.
FWIW, I just looked for "microsoftedgeupdate".. there where many entries, but none were in any Sound Forge or Magix folders. However I also looked for "MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup".. that was present in the SFP-16 Program files folder,. (thanks @hello-varekai).
btw, a duplicate was in 'SF-16 Program files (x86) folder, since I also have the 32 bit version of SFP-16 installed.

I would assume the same.

"Use Newsfeed to stay informed...." may have something to do with it as well. Disable that in 'Options> Preferences> General'.

Me, like so many others, try to stay away from Edge completely.
I really dislike MS 365, you can buy each app separatelly but it will cost you a fortune. 
Years  ago I bought Office Professional Plus 2016 on DVD for three PCs and will keep it as long as possible. 
I only use Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. 
Many not so useful annoying features can easily be disabled in Office Pro Plus. 
No virus on my PCs! :D

Please, let me know how to uninstall MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe from Sound Forge?
To me this is not the same as phishing, it is more like a malware.
Disable "Use Newsfeed to stay informed about...." in 'Options> Preferences> General' did not help. 
Renaming doesn't help, and moving MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe to another folder doesn't help either. 
Starting Sound Forge it looks for the file (MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe) with a popup window, click on OK button, which then closes the popup window, and Sound Forge starts normal. 
In my humble opinion it is not ok to add MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe in setup.

So I tried the free IObit Uninstaller and it found nothing. 
I consider it after browsing the GUI to be a bloatware.
So I unistalled it, but an uninstall app that cannot uninstall itself? Go figure. 
Tons of leftovers, spread all over the HDD and of course in registry. Not my cup of tea.

I think this feature NEEDS the Webview. Like @rraud wrote, you can disable it in the options, but still, the feature is likely hardcoded to Sound Forge and you probably cannot get rid of it.

Programmers don't want to program their own web browser from scratch but use what is already included in Windows. So Microsoft offers this features to be added with just very view lines of code. In the past the Internet Explorer was used, but it is now discontinued, so they switched to Edge.

OK, I understand, but let the user decide which browser they want to use. 
I'm not a programmer but an educated guess is that it won't require many lines of code. 
Usually online help files is up to the default browser user has chosen. 
If its for advertising, well that's a bummer.

An update. 
Removed firewall and HIPS rules for Sound Forge.
Added back the MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe to appropriate folder. 
(Doesn't it sound like Microsoft Edge browser installing something?)
Let it do its thing. Start Sound Forge, no window popup looking for MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe in Sound Forge.
Sound Forge running and (Updater) tries to connect to (newsfeed3.magix.com, ssl-update.magix.com).
Denied that of course, created new rules in firewall and HIPS for Sound Forge.
After that, Sound Forge starts normal. 
All is fine, no Microsoft Edge was installed on PC, not that I could find. 
Case closed, I hope...
