Magix Movie edit pro 2013 plus Freezes when I import large files

lemon.kennedy wrote on 11/21/2015, 3:16 AM

So When I import larger files The whole program freezes up. I've left it for half an hour and it's just sitting there frozen. Can't click on anything or do anything with it and I'm forced to quit it.

The File I'm trying to import is 20m long and just over 3GB. H.264 CPU accelerated 720 video at 60FPS. Though the latter shouldn't matter as it imports other files with the same settings fine.

Is there a way to get it to import without freezing?

Hi

What is your computer specification?

Windows version?  If Windows 10 was this an upgrade from 7 or 8?

Is MEP 2013 patched up to date?  The last version was 12.0.4.2 - see under Help About. . . .

. . . . Though the latter shouldn't matter as it imports other files with the same settings fine. . . .

Is there any difference between the files that will import and the one that will not - eg file source or format?

Does the file that will not import play OK in Windows Media Player or VLC?

Hi

Try the following:

  1. In the folder where the video files are there should be associated files with the same name as the video except they have the file extensions .H0 and .HDP

  2. With MEP closed, locate the .H0 and .HDP files for the video causing the problem and delete them.

  3. Note: if you find only one of the two associated files is missing it does not matter, delete the one you do find.

  4. Then try re-importing the video into the MEP project again.

  5. If you still get a problem with the file, close MEP again and delete the associated files again.

  6. Start MEP and create a new project, import the video.  If this fails then there may be an issue with that particular video file.

If the import succeeds then the original project may be corrupt in which case:

  • Open the original project and select File, Manage movies, Export and export the project - this will give you a .MVD file.

  • Restart MEP and create a new project

  • Select File, Manage movies, Remove from project - this will remove the empty timeline

  • Select File, Manage movies, Attach and select the .MVD file saved above.

  • Save the project with a new name then try re-importing the video that was causing the issue.

If this fails then there is an issue with that video file.

If it succeeds then continue working with this project.
