Magix MEP MX Project Compatibility with MEP 2013 - Advice Please

Whalebat wrote on 9/30/2012, 1:58 PM

I just recently installed MEP 2013.

Can anyone advise if there are any compatibility issues I should be aware of when opening previous version projects in 2013? I'm not sure if I should uninstall MEP MX.

I've custom install 2013 to it's own locastion so both are installed but would rather only work with one (2013) if there are no compatibility issues. Jumping from version to version could become a bind.

Are there any interesting changes in 2013 that anyone might be happy to share so i can start taking advantage of any new tweaks.

2013 never came with printed uses manual I wondered if that reflected that there weren't many changes to previous versions?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Mep 2013 is so new, right now if I were you I would not uninstall the previous version.  Any new software is bound to have a few glitches and updates as it evolves, so I would give it at least 6 months to make sure that if you need to edit something created in MEP MX can be done, just in case there are compatibility issues that were not anticipated.

You may want to check out this series of posts as there are some tips on some of the advantages of MEP 2013.  http://www.magix.info/us/anyone-using-2013-yet.forum.818555.html

Good Luck

Hi Whalebat

Good advice and link from gandjcarr there. The overwhelming opinion from the Magixiens on this forum is to finish projects in the version they were started in. You may be OK but there is always the possibility that something might have changed that will spoil a complex project (and annectdotes from at least one that things have) going from MX to 2013. I guess the best thing to do is save the project as a new name before experimenting. I imagine though most problems would arise from effects and fades you have applied in an earlier version which may have been superseeded in (dropped from) later versions.

The PDF manual should be in the start menu > all programs>Magix>MEP2013>Documentation folder and yes there are changes in it.

Yes, that's what I'll do.... make a copy of a project for experimentiong

and complete / edit existing projects in their origonal MEP version until I've got it figure.

I should have thought to look thier for the manual and can confirm it's there, thanks.
