Magix Bug with Gopro Hero 7 videos filmed upside down

I exported the video in HEVC format after purchasing the codec months ago from magix.

My PC uses an Intel i7-4771 CPU,16Gb DDR3, has an Nvidia GTX750Ti video card.

Thanks for the GoPro clip that helped a great deal.

I have tested this with MEP 2020 v19.0.2.58 and it exports correctly when I use either of the clip rotation controls, however I suspect the issue may be a combination of hardware and the if the controls crossed out in the image below are used, there have been a couple of reported rotation issues when the rotation buttons have been used.

If you used these buttons to rotate the image, then try the rotation dial and value as shown circled in the image.

I just imported your file into my copy of MEP Premium and rotated the image and exported. Export is fine. Plays right way up.

opened in Movies and TV.

Did you rotate the image the same way?

I rotated the clips by writing down the 180 value in the YELLOW CIRCLED field, that @johnebaker posted above.

Have you guys exported as HEVC ?

Will try again by pressing twice the rotation buttons.

In the mean time I tricked it by inserting a short clip in the beginning, you can see it on track 2, if I added that 0.5s clip that is shot UP SIDE UP, it exported the entire video correct!

No problems exporting right way up here, using any/all flipping methods. I'm exporting to HEVC.

@ovisopa It's hard to tell, but in your screenshot, the video in your first video object thumbnail looks upside down. If you have applied the rotation correctly, the video image (thumbnail) on the timeline should look the right way up. Here's mine:

Hi Ovisopa. Yes I've exported as HEVC, MPEG-4 and AVI. All were OK. Longest conversion took 17 secs. I wonder if you have other video codecs on your machine other than the ones that come with MEP? They have been know to cause problems in the past.

Alternatively, try placing the tracks you need on higher numbered tracks and placing a normal orientated track on track one so it never shows. Doesn't even have to be that long. See if that helps.

When you open the containing export folder can you see the image in the thumbnails of the HEVC files?

How to check? I know for sure that to be able to export to HEVC I had to purchase it from Magix.

I will check it tonight when going back home.

Because I knew I had this issue a month ago when I edited another video I made, after finished the editing I made an short export and it exported correctly. Than I exported the entire movie, overnight, in the morning I quickly uploaded to youtube and surprise, it was upside down. When I check the file on my pc was upside down to.

There is something weird happening, I will try again with just one clip (the one I sent to you) in my movie, because I think it will export ok too, and than will try again with multiple clips in the same movie, to see if still exports ok, I believe it won't. Also when you guys do the export, don't use other clips in the same project, as the first clip in the video affects this behaviour (this was the trick for me) .. here is the entire video with a short segment UP side UP in the begging, this short segment exported the entire video correctly ( at minute 4, it was the first time to meet wolfs in the wild)

I imported the supplied clip to the new version of VPX and it displayed and played the "right way up" without any intervention from me.

But, so far, ALL exports to .mp4, with or without HEVC, have produced a static green screen. Aargh!!!

Clearly I need to investigate further.

Hi. Seriously it has made no odds. Still exports without problems.

I ask about codec packs because normally under Windows 10 HEVC encoded video files normally don't show their thumbnails without an additional codec placed on the machine. To see my HEVC thumbnails in my project folders I've downloaded windows own solitary HEVC playback codec.

I haven't installed the codec yet, when I change Windows Explorer to thumbnail mode, the videos are displayed correctly

When I drag'n'drop a video in magix it shows it upsidedown,also in magix explorer it shows all videos upsidedown.

I exported the video as you see in the above screenshot, no rotation applied in Magix, it was exported like I see it in Magix: upsidedown.

Than I rotated the video by clicking twice the rotate button, exported it and it shows correctly.

I imported the same video again, twice, one clip after another, ROTATED BOTH in the same time by writing the value 180 in the rotation field (the way I usually rotate clips) and exported the video again, it shows correctly again.

I don't know how to recreate the bug, but it happened multiple times to me while editing the videos shot with my GoPro Hero7. I will try to import more videos, not the same one twice, and post back if I can make it export the video upside down.

You only need the additional codec to show and play HEVC files if they don't show or play in Win 10.

What are those weird icons for your HDP files? Surely they should look like this ?
