Magix Audio Cleaning Lab MX - problem.

j.hought wrote on 1/27/2015, 5:36 AM

I use Audio Cleaning Lab MX - Windows 7

I am able to download music from my I Pad/ successfully edit/ save as VIP and burn a CD

However when I try to subsequently re-open the file it says  no such file exists, although it is shown under 'Open File' - occasionally this works, but generally it refuses to open the file.

I have tried saving as 'any file' - makes no difference

Anyone experienced this problem and found a solution

Hi

. . . . I am able to download music from my I Pad/ successfully edit/ save as VIP and burn a CD . . . .

Are you using iTunes to download from the iPad?

Is the music from the Apple store?

Are you suing ACL to burn the music to CD or other CD burning software eg Nero, ImgBurn etc?

. . . . when I try to subsequently re-open the file it says  no such file exists, although it is shown under 'Open File' - occasionally this works, but generally it refuses to open the file.  . . . .

Which file - the VIP?

John

Hi,

I can no longer open my older versions of ACL so I am flying a bit blind here.

When you say that you try to re-open the file, do you mean the project, i.e. the VIP. It should be on the list at the bottom part when you click on File (or there is something that says recently opened projects). You can just select it, you don't have to search for it. Is it there?

When you save your project, where is it being saved to? It may be going to a hidden disk. You should save it to a location like under My Documents\Magix projects\ACL or something like that.

Lastly, I presume that it is the VIP that you cannot open, not the audio file that you were working on within the VIP. Correct?

Thanks for taking the time to respond - my apologies - I think I should have put my Brain in gear before send the query!!

I meant to say downloading  AUDIO to MAGIX from my OLYMPUS 811 hand recorder,  - I record 2 hours music sessions, download direct to Magix and then edit to 1 hour; save as VIP and burn to a CD.   All goes well if I do this at the same session, but if I only save the download  file as  a VIP with the intention of burning a CD the following day,  it refuses to recognise/open the file.

As mentioned I have tried saving as 'Any File' but still won't open although  Magix shows the file name under File/Open. Although the file name is shown correctly, it starts with a 'J' at the beginning, which is picked up from the usb input source - could this be the problem?

I didn't have this problem with the earlier version of Magix - any help would be appreciated

Hi John,

When you download to ACL, how does ACL handle this? Is it reading an audio file from your hand recorder? I believe so.

Files are loaded into ACL and used by ACL but the actual file is not saved in the VIP. The VIP is a list of commands/instructions as to what to do. All editing that you do is remembered as a series of commands. Nothing happens to the original audio file. The audio file or files always remain external to the VIP and are not touched. If you cut the audio object in ACL in half and delete one half, VIP just remembers this. Nothing happens to the audio file; it is still the full length.

Every time that you open the VIP it needs to load the audio file. If your audio file is on the recorder and it is not connected, then ACL can't find it. You have to first copy the files from the recorder onto your computer and then load the file that is on the computer into ACL. If you did not do this and you have erased the file(s) from the recorder, then they are gone.

It is important to read the manual to understand how the program works. All editing programs, video and audio, work like this. The source files always remain external and have to be available to the editor.

Try recording into ACL using a mic and you will see on the screen that ACL will save the recording as a WAV file. Yes, it shows up in the arranger, but the audio file in the arranger is the one that is saved as a WAV file. If you record from a turntable or tape deck, ACL creates a WAV file and stores it on your hard drive.

See below.
