Looking for MEP 2016 plus or pro on DVD

Looking for MEP 2016 plus or pro on DVD. I have had quite a few versions, some more "buggy" than others, running ver. 11 right now and it's been good but can't handle 4K. I prefer it in some ways (seperate tracks for audio for example). Have just installed Power Director 14 but not sure I will end up using it. Have looked on ebay and bought one from Amazon but it was an empty box with a serial number in it... how stupid. Any ideas?

ericjar,

As far as I know, the more recent versions of MEP have always been 'download' only products. Your Amazon purchase sounds OK -- simply download the free demo version from the MAGIX site, install it, and then use the serial number to activate it to the paid for product which will include the option to obtain (download again) additional content. The activation option is uder the 'Help' menu.

As to audio track display, MEP 20216 gives you the otpion for same or different tracks:

Carl

Thanks, that's a shame. Some of us who are in the country do not have cable available and satellite Internet charges for bandwith. Seems everyone assumes we all have cable and smartphones. I will try to get used to Power Director. I am also using kdenlive and Openshot on 2 Linux machines. I have to space out large downloads/uploads.

Problem with Amazon's product page is they showed 2 options 1. a PC Version (which I bought) and 2. a PC Download. I guess with the download option you don't have to wait to be sent an empty box :) I returned the box of air they sent me.

The last MEP I tried allowed you to separate the video and audio but I don't think it offered a way to make that the default. Have been using MEP since about 2008, and Sony Vegas usually just for rendering. Have about 110 videos online now. It's already a concern for me to install another vesion which may be buggy or overwrite some of the things I have on my system now that work well although I never install to default locations. Some versions have been terrible.

Thanks again for the reply.

Hi Eric,

Re splitting audio and video onto 2 tracks, this is a setting in Program settings. Mine is set to 2 tracks, Half waveform display and Automatically create waveform during import.

MEP 2016 is ok, but the most recent, 2017, is better. I presume that you are getting the basic version and not Plus or Premium. That is a mistake. You will quickly run into lmiitations and be unhappy with your purchase, blame Magix, etc. If you have a laptop or can borrow one, I suggest that you go to somewhere with a free wifi connection, like a library, and get the latest and greatest version - from Magix not Amazon, at least the Plus version, install it, activate it update to the latest patch, download and install all of the additional content, activate the codecs, make sure that you select to keep the download files so that you can use them to install onto your desktop or to run again if you have to reinstall, then go home. You would then have to activate it on the desktop which requires an internet connection but does not require a download. At least, that is what I would do. Well, almost. I have VPX, which for me, is even better. I would not want to give up the additional features. that VPX has over MEP Plus.

I did experiment with one version that had audio/video tracks split but didn't fool with it very long so yes I may have overlooked the option to split. Don't know why anyone would want theose piled on each other, but their choice.I always get the top version, never basic. Yes I know I could do what you suggest in order to try a newer version but that is kind of a pain. In the time I did that I might be profficient with Power Director :)

For 90% of what I intend to do the version of MEP is fine. My opinion 4K is mostly nonsense because of the limitations of the human eye but there are advantages in shooting video in 4K because of the greater ability to crop and still have good output. However I often use MEP to output a still frame which I am using for other editing and in the version I have 1920X1080 is the largest still output which makes it difficult sometimes. If I have a good editor that handles 4K I will probably shoot in 4K with 2 cameras I use because of the editing advantages.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. I think I'm just feeling lazy about diving into a new program but I've learned many, written some and was a computer geek before there was such a term. Also not really working on a project at the moment
