Laptop Spec Recommendations for Pro X5 Suite?

Hi! I have been a Samplitude user for about 10 years. I use it at the studio I work at and at home. At home I have been using Pro X Suite for quite a few years but have decided to upgrade to Pro X5 Suite. I will be doing more work with virtual instruments and so I downloaded the Pro X5 Suite trial to test them out and like the new instruments very much. It is time to upgrade my laptop as well and would like to see if anyone in the community has recommendations or things I should consider for a computer that will be specifically for Samplitude Pro X5 Suite.

I am an engineer, producer and musician but I do not have in-depth computer science knowledge so I want to make sure I am considering everything I need to and that I am not paying extra for any components or specs that will not serve Samplitude specifically but would like a system that will be able to keep up with dense projects. Any guidance or recommendations would be appreciated very much. Thanks!

@eddiehotaling

Have you seen this page, where Magix lists the minimum specifications for a computer to run this software? I suspect the general advice would be to ensure you exceed these minima by at least some margin.

@emmrecs Thank you for your response Jeff!

I have checked out that page. My computer now meets those specs and I run Pro X Suite but it doesn't take much to bog it down. I figured since I will be upgrading to Pro X5 I want to make sure I have a computer that is well equipped to handle more without spending money on specs that won't help so I'm trying to get some opinions.

My plan is to get something with 16GB of memory and an SSD hard drive but I'm having trouble figuring out what processor specs mean in terms of serving Samplitude the best without breaking the bank.

When it comes to # of cores is more necessarily better or is there a point where I'm paying for something I won't need?

I'm having trouble understanding the processor speeds and what effect that has on Samplitude because some laptops that have good reviews for audio applications have processors with base frequencies under 2 GHz but have turbo frequencies above 4 GHz (Dell XPS 13 is one I was looking at that fits this description). I'm not sure if base matters more than turbo or if they both should be considered for different reasons.

Any advice or insight is appreciated!
