Hi

You should not need to - MMM should recognise the controller when it is plugged in and then MMM is started.

I would be interested to hear what the controller is like - it is a make I have not seen before.

That is true, however you do have the advantage of a full 5 octave + 1note range whereas a 49 key controller has only a 4 octave range + 1 note.

This does save using the octave up/down keys for those moments you need that extra bit of range.

At the moment I am considering getting a Yamaha keyboard which can also double as a MIDI controller.

I think it clinched it for me when you mentioned shifting up/down octaves.

My disability is in my arms so anything which offers ease of opperation is very welcome.
