Is there a way to reset the DVD menus?

I am new to Movie Edit Pro 17.  I am trying to burn a DVD.  In my bumbling through the menu creation process I have inadvertantly ended up with numerous menus and sub menus, many of which I never created.  Is there a way to reset the menus to blank so I can have a fresh start?   I have many hours invested in this movie, having started over several times. (In fact that may be part of the problem.  Under Window it shows three movies, but I only have the one.  I have deleted any video and audio from the other two, and have unchecked them in the Burn screen.  But I cannot figure out how to eliminate them from the project.)

I am finding it difficult to work with the menu creation process. After creating a menu I don't see a "save" button.  And I don't find an easy way to see how to show what has already been created.

Thanks for any help which could get me past this obstacle.

Hi

It sounds like you still have three movies in your project, although you may have deleted the files in them they still exist as part of the project.

Click the button shown in this image to see if you really have only one movie in the project

As you can see there are two movies in this project which will create multiple menus.

If you have multiple movies then you will need to select the ones you do not need using this button and the select File, Manage movies, Remove from project.

This should fix the menus issues if this is the cause.

Any changes you make to the menus are saved with the project and should not affect the templates unless you click any of the Apply button options.

dale,

If the 'Window' menu list shows three movies than that is what you have (as John points out in his typical 'he posts while I'm still typing' message). A MVP 'Project' can have many movies and it is easy to get more than you want when importing, as the option to 'add' can mean add to the project (as an additional movie) rather than add the material to the current movie. Try 'File' >> 'Manage movies' from the top menu where you have the option to delete movies from your project or rename them etc. Un-ticking at the burn screen only hides them from display.

The menu information is saved within your project rather than a separate file. The only time you will see a 'Save as' option in the burn window is if the project has not been saved at all before -- and then you will be saving the movies as well.

I didn't know of any way to return to a fresh menu but tried the following method. It seems to work because the menu details of the first movie loaded take precedence over menus that were saved with movies that are added later.

  1. Open a new project and immediately, without adding any objects, save it as say 'blank_menu.MVP' to identify it and for future use.
  2. Open your current project and choose 'Add new project'. The combined project will still have the 'blank' menu template active.
  3. From the windows menu select the blank_menu movie for preview.
  4. Go to 'File' >> 'Manage movies' and delete the blank_menu movie from the project.

You should be left with you movie with only the default blank menu template.   Regards, Carl

Thanks to each of you for your prompt responses.  I was able to delete the two empty movies from the project as well as create the blank template.
