Is there a way to get a "Count in" on the Metronome before recording starts?

Hi, Does anybody know how to get a "Count in" with the metronome BEFORE the recording actually starts? The metronome doesn't seem to have any adjustments available apart from tempo, having a count in would really help. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Scott.

This is not possible. The metronome is only an aid to getting the correct timing of your playing, and for beat detection.
