Is it better to buy MM2016 or just purchase extra soundloops?

I don't want to buy something I don't need, but I want something better all the same.  Here's my situation:

I'm an indie filmmaker creating background music for promo videos.  Back in 2009 I purchased Magix Music Maker 16 for use on my PC.  All was well but I got tired of the same old loops all the time.  Two years later I bought Magix Music Maker MX and the set up was virtually the same with maybe a few differences/improvements, and definitely more sound loops to choose.  It amalgamated my old loops from MM16 which was nice, but otherwise, I needed no extra knowledge on how to run the program because it was basically the same.

Now here I am five years later. I am still using Music Maker 16 without any problems, but don't know if it's worth it to upgrade to Music Maker 2016 or if I should just purchase extra soundloops.

I'm not a serious musician or filmmaker, and don't need a lot of gadgety stuff with the program, but I certainly like having the huge selection of soundloops.

In the users' opinions, should I upgrade or not?

Also, I tried to download the free trial for Music Maker 2016 (and noticed the program looks very similar as always), but the program didn't produce any sound - not even in the sample demo at the beginning.  I have sound elsewhere on my system, and can achieve it on other files and online, but I load up MM2016 and could see the meter moving, but could never get it working.  Yes, sound was on, up, and not muted.

It would also be my first "online" downloadable purchase, as the other two I purchased directly from the store.  I worry that if I download I'm going to run in to trouble like I am with the demo.

MY SYSTEM:  Windows 10, 64 bit OS, x64 based processor, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU, Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 2.67 GHz, 4.00 GB

I should mention that I got frustrated with there being no sound in the trial so I uninstalled it.

Hi

Please do not duplicate post on the same issue - this splits responses from the topic and does not enable a thread to be followed with what has been suggested to fix an issue, the feedback and sccess or failure of the fix.

. . . .  creating background music for promo videos. . . I purchased Magix Music Maker 16 for use on my PC. . . . .  Two years later I bought Magix Music Maker MX  . . . and definitely more sound loops to choose. . . . . .

Please be aware that the soundpool licences included with Music Maker - all versions - are for personal use only.

If you are producing music for commercial use, public broadcast, etc,  you have to purchase Audo Pro licences from Catooh for every soundpool you use.

MMM 2016 trial version does work, however as you have not supplied enough information - see here - nor responded to the previous answer supplied, it is difficult for us to help you.

@Johnebaker, thanks for the spanking, I'll keep that in mind.  However, my last topic was solely about the fact that the trial wasn't working.  Here, I was looking for opinions in this topic whether or not I should even buy the new version or just soundpools given what I'm doing.  I don't know what more information you expect.  I gave my system info and described what I'm doing.  As I've said in my answer here, I've uninstalled the trial.

Also you have said this:

"If you are producing music for commercial use, public broadcast, etc,  you have to purchase Audo Pro licences from Catooh for every soundpool you use."

If I purchase the Audio Pro license, is that separate from purchasing the soundpool?  Is there a separate category for these soundpools?  I don't want trouble from anyone.

Hi

To purchase the required licences for commercial use, you get them from Catooh.com  - for more information on the different licence types and their terms and conditions see here.

. . . . If I purchase the Audio Pro license, is that separate from purchasing the soundpool? . . .

When you purchase a soundpool under the soundpool is a list if the different licence types as shown below

Once purchased you will then be able to download the soundpool.

NOTE:  the download is only available for a preset time - it is up to you to make a backup copy of the soundpool eg to CD or DVD for future re-installation if necessary.  I would also advice that you retain copies of the purchase confirmation for future need eg against claims for breach of copyright or requirement to produce for the video promoters
