Introduction - new guy

New here and not very knowledgeable about Magix Studio Suite. I am a retired computer guy (but think mainframes and early PCs) turned Jeep historian and researcher. My ultimate goal is to annotate (add audio commentary) and maybe colorize a 1948 B&W movie. I suspect I should start with something simpler. I am looking for guidance on getting started.

@BarryT

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

You will see I have moved your post to the Video Products>Movie Studio area of the forum since this is the product you say you have. Is that the correct product for you?

I cannot speak from any experience of attempting to colorize a B&W movie but I suspect you need much more sophisticated (= expensive) software than MMS, sorry.

Hopefully, users who have experience in this field will see your post and offer guidance to you.

Hi

. . . . maybe colorize a 1948 B&W movie . . . .

Movie Studio 2025 has an AI Colorize feature for doing this.

From testing I have done it works best with good quality still images.

For video the effects results will vary depending on the quality and format of the original video, ie the higher the resolution, exposure control, and image quality the better the result, though it can be inconsistent throughout a movie.

I found a 16MM 27-minute film in a shop in Paris, France, a few years ago (online).  Purchased it and had it shipped to me, then digitized.  I gave the original film to the Periscope guys for preservation.  I am currently out of the country, but I received the upgrade offer and jumped on it.  When I return home, I'll come back for some assistance.  But this helps.  I'll lower my expectations and maybe break the project into smaller pieces.

Thanks for the quick responses.
