Instrument Activation Issues and Missing SoundPool Choices.

AudioNut wrote on 12/16/2017, 4:37 PM

With a clean Music Maker install, all my instruments work fine. After installing Samplitude Music Studio, the Music Maker Store purchased instruments are all locked (except for the 3 that come with Music Maker Free) and all require activation, but I was never given any activation keys for any of the purchased instruments. They just sent me confirmation e-mails of my purchase.

Entering the Music Maker serial number when it asks for a serial number for the instruments does nothing. Likewise, when I go into Samplitude Music Studio, none of the unique instruments that I purchased from the Music Maker Store can be used because activation is required and again I don't have any activation codes.

Another problem that I am having is that I activated the Hip Hop Producer Edition, but I don't have any SoundPool selections for it in the Store. Anyone else had that issue and know what to do about it?

I have sent support several e-mails regarding these various issues but I have not heard back from them.

Hi,

Did you update to the latest patch? Did you try entering the activation code for Samplitude Music Studio - not at the top but for other versions?

Correct about not being able to use MMM 2018 activated instruments in Samplitude Music Studio. This problem has been raised with Magix many times. Still waiting for either a fix or an answer.

I don't know about the Hip-Hop Soundpool or why it does not download. Was there no separate download for this?

Thanks, I entered (counter-intuitively) my Samplitude Music Studio serial into "Activating a previous version of Music Maker" and clicked Activate. In Music Maker it unlocked all the instruments from Samplitude Music Studio. It really burns me that I purchased instruments in the Music Maker store before I figured out I could use the instruments that came with Samplitude Music Studio...if only I would have know...grr...wasted a lot of money on duplicates there.

Anyway, I still have the instruments that I got through the Music Maker Store that are locked. I have no idea how to fix that..I also have 3 SoundPool credits that are lost...no, there was no download, they just issue your credits to choose them in the store when you activate a new edition.

Thanks for the help. That partially solved a problem that I was having.

When I opened up Music Maker they were all locked again...what a joke...

browj2 wrote on 12/16/2017, 6:10 PM

What version of MMM do you have?

You mention the HipHop version, but it seems to be a separate download and even the version number is higher than mine, and I have the latest Premium version. Are you running a second MMM?

I don't see this HipHop Producers Edition in the Store. You say that you activated it, but how?

From a previous post someone wrote "Technically right now, every version starts only with Music Maker Free. The Special Editions / Pro / Premium packs just give you codes you can use to "unlock" additional features in their store front - it is a tedious and time consuming process. No idea why their installers are very different sizes when all the instruments and packs are obtained separately. But most likely due to the "pc optimization free today" stuff they try to install along side them."

From my understanding this is true. I have Premium (25.1.1.67), 80s Edition and Hip Hop Edition...they are all the same thing...it is the serial numbers that unlock the credits for the content and then you download it.

You activate new editions through Store Tab>Options>Activate Edition

@AudioNut

My version is 25.1.1.71. Can you update to this? It does solve some problems with activations.

When I try and update in Music Maker (Help>Update Program Online) it says there are no updates... How do I get the one that you have?

As a side note, I set a custom VST plug-in path and noticed that if I press Reset VST plug-in information, all my lock icons go away until the next restart of Music Maker. Weird.

I also discovered that my SoundPools in Samplitude Music Studio appeared when I Program Settings (P)>General Options>Media Pool and clicked Rescan Soundpools...

Hooray for that!

browj2 wrote on 12/16/2017, 8:57 PM

Yes, I have already covered this in other posts several times now. Scanning the main Soundpools folder will usually bring them into the Media Pool but not all or always, for some strange reason.

However, the Soundpools purchased through the program Store are proprietary mxcogg files that will not work in other Magix programs, like the Samplitude line and the video programs. I have complained to Magix and so should many others.

Yeah, it is all pretty ridiculous. All these companies with their anti-piracy licensing and activation schemes just end up hurting the end user. I don't like having to spend 60% of my research trying to figure out how to use my stuff. My time is precious and I would rather make music.

AudioNut wrote on 12/16/2017, 9:28 PM

So how do I get the newest version. Any ideas?

ReplicantX wrote on 12/16/2017, 10:27 PM

The 'Rescan Soundpools' seems to help with my lost soundpool problem, also.

Did you ever figure out how to reactivate your instruments? Mine are showing downloaded but locked, as well.

https://www.humblebundle.com/software/vegas-pro-creative-freedom

It's in the $19.30 tier.

It's activated just like the '80s edition. Either on the website or in the program, itself, by entering the serial key given by HB. They both give three soundpools (each from a select group) and an instrument of your choice once activated.

AudioNut wrote on 12/22/2017, 12:05 AM

Magix updated their program...my instruments work now...I am still missing sound pool credits.
