Installing an upgrade to Music Maker Premium

Sidney-Stevens wrote on 3/25/2021, 12:29 PM

1.First attempts gave error that "account already exists", followed instructions on MAGIX Support part for this error. Rebooted

2. New error occurs ERROR 1603 for which the instructions on MAGIX Support page do not seem to apply.

How do I load the upgrade of Music Maker?

Music Maker default version that came with MAGIX Movie editor which I installed 3/23/2021 was being upgraded to Music Maker Premium

Hi

In addition to @PATIENT-X comment.

. . . . ERROR 1603 for which the instructions on MAGIX Support page do not seem to apply . . . .

Which Magix instructions are you referring to - a link would help ?

The most common causes of this error code are:

  1. Antivirus is blocking the installation process.

Try turning off the Folder Protection, Ransomware and Real time scanning features of your AV and then run the installer again.

  2. Access to the temp folder is blocked due to incorrect permissions. In this case right click the program installer and select Run as admin and follow through the dialogs

If you AV is blocking the program after a successful install then you may need add exceptions to protection fetures to allow it to run correctly.

It is the removal of the previous version that is generating the error. Where else might I look for the settings that need to be modified?

PATIENT-X wrote on 3/25/2021, 1:56 PM

@Sidney-Stevens

When you uninstall software there can be remnants of it within the registry.

A great free uninstaller like Revo removes everything.

Normally I would go into registry by typing regedit in search box left of task bar, click edit, then click find and enter name of software, make sure its the right version and delete accordingly, I would only use this feature if you are confident enough to use it.

The original error looks like trying to register an account that already exists rather than logging in to that account.

Did you actually get as far as purchasing the Premium Edition and receiving a serial number?

Sidney-Stevens wrote on 3/25/2021, 6:58 PM

Yes

Using REVO I found the blocking files. It appears to be working at this point
