Independence is the sample workstation from which most of the software instruments in Music Maker and Samplitude Music Studio (i.e. the "Vita solo instruments") have been derived. Each Vita solo instrument comes with a customized and simplified user interface, compared to the interface of the big Independence version, but the underlying technology and the actual instrument sample content originates from Independence. If you do own e.g. the 70GB pro version of Independence, you could certainly also use this in conjunction with Music Maker or Samplitude Music Studio, just like any other, external VST instrument. (Just make sure to use the 32bit version of the plug-in DLL for Music Maker.)
I have never been able to get Independence (not the standalone version) to work with MusicMaker; Samplitude Music Studio and Samplitude Pro X whatever, no problem. Have you been able to make it work with MusicMaker?
asking , cause Magix removed the "Premium" instruments from producer planet , and replaced it with Independence Library "addons" . IL Pro is 330 in the "Pro plugins addon" at Magix , Music category . then they show 9 more libraries which totals an extra 800 ( about 1200 total ! ) . Well , those 9 additional libraries , are the same 9 , that are now on producer planet . "IL Pro" for 330 is NOT on producer planet .
mostly was wondering if the sound quality is superior to that of the "Premium" instruments that come with MM , SMS . ? ( IL at 70 gig verses MM\SMS at about 7 gig ) I would expect IL to have more articulation ability and higher quality sound samples . I can't find much talk about IL .
I have read that Premium Instruments were recorded at 16 bit 44.1 khz . I have no idea how IL Samples were recorded .
P.S. you won't find IL in the "More Instruments" button , at Magix . IL is in the "Pro plugins" section .
Will independence ever be updated and expanded? I think some far-out native effects, similar to Zynaptiq or Omnisphere, and an updated interface would be nice. ,
. . . . I have never been able to get Independence (not the standalone version) to work with MusicMaker; Samplitude Music Studio and Samplitude Pro X whatever, no problem. . . .
I finally got Independence Free working correctly with MMM - the issue I had was with the library not populating correctly, once I downloaded the library, ran the installer and did a repair the installation resolved itself.
2.2 gig of Samples are installed here : C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Independence Libraries\Independence Free ( save these , so you don't need to download them again )
when you look at your "List of Synths" in MM and SMS there will be a new entry named : Independence which is something like the entry : Vita one name , acts as a Host , to all of it's synths
to use your computer keyboard to play notes , you need a host application such as MM or SMS
i can NOT find a MIDI Editor inside of IL
IL interface is somewhat like Vita ,...a generalized interface for all of it's synths
the included E. Piano sounds really bad the included acoustic guitar sounds really good Magix "Electric Piano" sounds really good ( one of the MM SMS synths )
the dedicated synths of MM and SMS are kind of nice . especially the "Vintage Organ" something of a Hammond B3 with it's EQ Slider bars , etc ,...
IL does NOT have that intimate interface for the instruments . same is true with Vita . only a generalized , "one interface for all" of it's synths .
John, I heard of such problems before, but don't seem be able to confirm them in the current Music Maker generation. I suppose it was never much of an issue in support, since most Music Maker users were happily using their Vita 2 and Vita solo instruments, and the Independence package was working for the Samplitude users. I'll keep my eyes on this situation. It seems to be working for me right now. There's another major Music Maker update due in the next few weeks as well. If you ever feel the inclination to play around with Music Maker and Independence again, maybe you want to wait for that new version and start from a clean slate. The new version will become available as an update to all users of the current Music Maker generation (25.x), regardless of whether you have one of the paid-for editions or even the completely free version. (In order to be able to use external VSTi plug-ins, you'd still need to have at least the "Creative Suite" feature pack unlocked, though.)
I'm not aware of any quality differences of the sample content in the big 70GB version compared to the smaller Independence library or the Vita (solo instruments) that have been derived from it. The difference is really just in the amount of content that is included, with the 70GB version including the full original Independence content. (In the meantime, there have been new sources of sample content for more recent Vita solo instruments, which are not included in that original 70GB Independence content. That new content would e.g. come from the various software instruments released by "Best Service" during the past few years, which were using the underlying technology of YellowTools/Independence as their sample player software.)
Thanks for the information. I'll wait for the update before trying again to open Independence in MMM. I have the full 70 GB, which works well, of course, in Samplitude Pro X3 Suite. The Yellow Tools interface needs a facelift, according to many members of the Samplitude forum. You may want to take a look there, or talk to Kraznet (Martin). In any event, if Independence works with MMM, which it seems to, this is a huge selling point for both.
If you haven't already joined, there is a dedicated Samplitude forum here where you will find a lot of information about Independence. Also, Kraznet has done several YouTube tutorials about Independence.
haven't been to the SMS forum yet , will get there now .
good to hear the sound Sample's quality is the same. for all synths . best I can tell , ALL Samples are at 24 bit 44.1 khz including the Premium synths of Music Maker , just that MM max's in program at 16 bit 44.1 khz rendering . i only use 44.1 khz clock , with sound card set to 44.1 khz , anyway .
in SMS , one time i was using 96 khz , and for some reason ALL Premium synths were playing at about half octave low . that's why i only use 44.1 khz now . to make sure the pitches are all correct . 48 khz would offset the pitch and keyboard by about 10 %
so , size of the Library does NOT determine synth audio quality . good to know , less variety though . must be lots and lots of less variety ,...the Premium synth count is 40 synths at about 7 gig bytes . while Independence is 70 gig bytes . where can anyone find out what is exactly in the 70 gig Library ? 70 gig ! i just can't imagine what more it could have .
MM25 worked right away with Independence Free . I directed MM25 VST settings to use the Independence VST32 folder , as noted above , and it works . ALL these programs use the same ASIO dialogue to select the sound card , i had to set that inside of Independence . i had gotten all of the important plugins for MM25 , so i guess i got the VST creative plugin . ( it sounded important at the time , didn't know Independence would be making use of it :) i didn't even know the word "Independence" ,...i do now .
"Best Service" , hmmm , that might explain the 9 new additional Independence Libraries . sporting an almost 900 price tag , for all 9 . yikes !

You can find an official version comparison chart here:
I see that the new version of Music Maker is out. Nothing shows up in the current MM for the program update. Is the new version a new install or an update to the existing version?
The update to the new version (27.x) will ultimately be available via the update procedure within the program (i.e. from version 25.x). It just isn't yet right now. From what I understand, development is still fine-tuning some minor bits of this updating procedure, as it entails an automated uninstallation of the old version, followed by the installation of the new product generation. It's not as trivial as a regular program patch. You will first receive another generation 25.x program patch, which will essentially prepare the program's update mechanism for the big update that will then be downloaded. Since we have now a very big number of (free) Music Maker 25 users, who will all receive this update, I believe development wants to make extra sure to iron out any potential snags in this update process. It did already seem to work fine for me in our internal tests, though.
If you don't want to wait for this to happen, you can already manually uninstall your Music Maker 25, and grab the current version from our website:
The patch to 25.1.3.84 didn't show up on my Surface Pro 4 this morning, so I downloaded and installed the free version (27.0.0.16). It asked to delete the previous version and I accepted.
I just checked on my desktop and the patch was available, so I updated to it and I'll wait for version 27.
I tested Independence with the patched MM and it still crashes after selecting an instrument. I don't have Independence on my Surface Pro so can't test it. I'll wait for version 27 and test again. It works fine with Samplitude Pro X3 Suite, but I'm wondering if there is something further that needs to be done. Independence just showed up in the menu of MM without me doing anything.
I am still testing trying out , Independence Free 2 gig library . Independence version 3.2 works just fine with 32 bit VST in Music Maker 2018 25.78 version . Independence has some advanced techniques in it's interface , i am still looking into it ,...Articulation tweaking , looks extensive ( enhanced AHDSR ) . Still , waiting on license verification of Independence , is it Standard or Unlimited ? producerplanet says the license is "Standard" .
if someone is in the middle of a project ,...it might be best to finish the project using the current version . it is possible the updade patch could Break that project , Video game updates have been known to Break Saved Games ...ie "your saved progress\work": is no longer valid . if no projects are in the works , then updating should be ok ,.. and .hopefully , all previous projects will continue to load .
I have performed the MMM 25.1.3.84 patch and have all instruments, sound pools, loops etc available (AFAICS)
EDIT: Although possible important, I also have the MMM v 24.1.6.127 (UDP3) installed on the PC, which is an MSI GT72VR With the following spec (Windows 10 Home 1803 With todays patch 2018-07 (KB4338819) installed prior to the MMM 25.1.3.86 patch:
ProcessorIntel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
Operating systemMicrosoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-biters
Likewise, all Soundpools and Instruments showed up in both the patch on my desktop and the new version on my Surface Pro.
For anyone who got Acid Pro 7 with a Humble Bundle, they can also be added to Soundpools. Some of them were a bit off, I think the instruments may have been incorrect in some cases, but they all showed up. I hope they will with version 27.
I noticed that VariVerb II is in the Store for sale. I got it with a Music Studio purchase a few years ago. It always worked in MM; now it doesn't and MM would not accept the activation code. Looks like another pain to go along with instruments purchased previously prior to the invention of the in-app Store. Not happy.

Hi John,
There shouldn't be any problem using the VariVerb II effect plug-in in your Music Maker, seeing as how you have it as a separate plug-in with its own authentication system etc. Just make sure you set everything up as per this procedure:
First of all, make sure you got the proper plug-in version installed. You can perform the installation again from the following link:
Next, make sure to point the VST plug-in path in Music Maker to the location of the plug-in on your hard drive (32bit version, that is). Now you should be able to find the entry for VariVerb under the VST FX section in Music Maker. If you did have to completely reinstall the plug-in prior to this, you'll probably be prompted for the VariVerb serial number again. Find this in your MAGIX pro-audio/Samplitude account, or contact our customer service, if you no longer have the serial on file.
I just tested this and it works fine for me. There shouldn't be any conflict between the in-app store version of VariVerb and your independent plug-in version. (The latter would essentially act like any third-party VST plug-in in Music Maker, regardless of the fact that it's from MAGIX.)
V27.0.2.28 I have Independence complete with Samplitude Pro X3 Suite. I can start Independence in MMM and some of the pianos can be used, some not. The ones that do not, cause MM to immediately shut down and restart. The same happens with some of the other instruments.
Some come back and ask for an activation code. Firstly, none of these should cause MM to shutdown and restart. Secondly, why, for some instruments, those that don't immediately shut down MM, am I asked for an Activation code? Is there something that I have to do to tell MM that I have these?
