In MAGIX Music Maker 2013, how do you reset vst plugin paths?

Techoh wrote on 11/29/2013, 2:45 PM

I have been able to successfully have music maker to find the paths to my vst plugins, but I can't find out how exactly to delete the path and start over.

I'd like to know how to reset everything related to vst plugins, that way I can start with a clean slate. If possible, I've also heard that you can redirect where it looks for plugins. If anyone knows how to make it use and ONLY use plugins inside a specified folder for plugins, that'd be great. Thanks!

By the way, my operating system is Windows 7.

Hi

You should have this option in the program settings dialog

(This is from MMM MX however 2013 should be similar)

I think I've tried that before, and it doesn't seem to work....

As I try it again, I find that it's very similar to how "MMM MX" is setup. Although, as I press the "Reset VST Plug-In Information," nothing happens but a notification window popping up telling me that earlier vst instruments where removed. Funny, all of the synthesizers are still there right after is says that.

If I remember correctly, I think I've actually re-installed the program at one point. Although, there must have been some files stored around somewhere that weren't deleted. I bet these files must contribute to telling Music Maker where the plugins are...

Hi Techoh and Johnb

I've had same question for years as that button has not worked for years !! Lol. It deletes the plugins and then reloads them. MMM201X should update or remove this button.

What I've found is, you need to dig deeper. For previous version, as I remember MMMMXP and forward, what you'll need to do is to go to:

This PC / Windows / Users / <current user> / AppData / Roaming / Magix / MM24dlx and open up MusicMaker.ini in your prefered txt editor. Then find the VSTs you want out of your MMM life and delete it:) (use the Find function)
Just to be sure, open up the VSTPlugins.ini and delete the path again.

That should for sure delete the VST plugin from MMM201X and the path too.

All the best,

Jakob
