Importing files with the same name (MEP 2014 PLUS)

MOVIE EDIT PRO 2014 +

I think that there are problems when we import files with the same name (from different directories) or previously imported. In a situation, when I export the movie, the area in conflict went black. Create new frame table it seems that resulted but when exporting the problem remained. Another situation when I imported a file to the timeline, I played (in the program), but the sound was from another file that was not in the project. I think it's a conflict with another file I imported another time.

One solution is to change the name to unique names (before start creating projects). Another solution is: Export project through the options File-> BACKUP COPY -> MOVIE COPY AND PASTE MEDIA COMMUNICATION (If there are two files with FILE.MOV name, then one of the files maintains the same name and the other is changed to FILE_001.MOV, for example) and then open the new copy.

It may be a problem with the auxiliary or temporary files! But this does not happen every day!

Is there any option in Movie Edit Pro 2014+ to avoid conflicts with files with the same name? Has anyone had this kind of problem? I did not find information on the forum.

thanks

Hi

An interesting question and AFAIK there is no way of doing this..

For me this question raises another one - how did you get files with the same name?

I had this issue with a sportscam which restarted the file numbering at 0000 each time you changed the memory card.

To get round this I used a batch renaming program (Advanced Renamer) to add in the date and time taken to the file names when imported to the computer.

Viva!

«...there is no way of doing this..»

I think if we select the option: "create a new project folder where all imported average will be copied to" and alter the directory destination may resolve the problem of duplication of files with the same name (the information is duplicated, implying more disk space).

«For me this question raises another one - how did you get files with the same name?»

When I move files from ActionCam, the file names start from 0000 or from the most recent.

«...I used a batch renaming program (Advanced Renamer) to...»

In the 'Windows XP' you can select all files, press F2 and change all the names.

But the big question remains: I think there is a conflict in MEP2014 + with files with the same name, located in different folders (I know it's not possible to have files with the same name in the same folder). I can not guarantee 100%. Maybe it's just a problem with this release. If the error occurs to me again or if I do some more experience I'll say something.

«AFAIK»..«HTH»

I had to use the urbandictionary to translate AFAIK and HTH

That is similar to the problem I had with my sportscam.

I would recommend you have a look at Advanced Renamer - once you have created a preset renaming method, it takes seconds to rename a batch of files and adding the date and time to the file names makes them unique.
