Importing files from DaVinci Resolve

Craigster wrote on 2/3/2021, 10:58 PM

Can anyone confirm: Is VPX able to import video files from DaVinci Resolve?

(I'm aware that the Mac version of DaVinci Resolve can export directly to Final Cut Pro and to Premiere. Wondering if the same is true for VPX via the Windows version of Resolve. Or, perhaps thru first converting to Final Cut Pro7, and then importing those xml files into VPX. Has anyone does this successfully?)

Hi.

I think this question should be put to the Magix staff for an accurate answer. Most people who answer here do not run more than one companies video editing software. Certainly there is no 'Open in xxx' as there is in other programs for direct import of a file from another program.

I suspect the answer to your question is dependent on the format(s) in which Resolve can export its files. As with all such editing packages I suspect their "project" format (for want of a better term) is proprietary.

Hi

. . . . and then importing those xml files into VPX . . . .

I think what you are referring to are Edit Decision Lists - VPX can import EDL's however they must be in the Samplitude EDL Format which is not XML based.

If Resolve can export this format then you could try importing one, however any special effects applied in Resolve may not be available in VPX.
