Import VOB file

New user. Opened Movie Edit Pro 2016 and tried to start a new project with a VOB file. The program does not recognize this file. It is not visible to select. My goal was to edit the length of the VOB file. The sound track is not my first priority although from Internet search it appears there is a problem working with this format pic and sound. Please help. PS It doesn't see the file to frame it as suggested from a post I viewed. I have a HP Envy all in one desktop with Win10

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

I'm not sure why your version of MEP cannot "see" your VOB file, but one possible workaround is to change the VOB file extension to mpg. Doing this will not alter the file at all but has been known to allow video editing programs to see the file.

One other thought: what is the source of your VOB file? Is it from a commercial DVD? If so, I wonder whether there is some sort of anti-copying protection involved. In which case, I think you will be out of luck!
