Hi

Thank's to everyone on here for helping me to find sites that sell images, really helpful.

There seems to be lots of copywrite issues about how you can use them and really exspensive in some cases.

I am really getting to grips with this program now but I do have another question. for you.

The images come in different sizes and I'm not sure what size to use in magix and how that works? I will find out in the future it's just finding the right books with the right information.

The larger the size the better the quality is a rough estimate to using images or videos in any project. Things you need to consider are the Resolution and Aspect Ratio.

The DSLR I use takes stunning pictures, but the aspect ratio is not 16:9 (HD - High Definition) nor is it 4:3 (SD - Standard Definition). When I use these photos in a project, I get a Black Border to the left and right of the photo. I can then use a feature of the Movie Edit Pro to zoom in so that the border are eliminated.

I would say if you are using stocked footage, you would want the higher quality file, but... it also depends on what your final result will be.

Hi John

Thank's for that.

I have a picture like you are showing with the borders each side if it. So what is the procedure for eliminating it and what menu do you go into, I tried windows and zoom but this doen't seem to be the answer.

Hi Michael

There are two ways of cropping the image:-

1.   Effects, Movement effects, Section

2.  Effects, Movement effects, Size/Position  - set the width to the width of the video project setting and then adjust Top and Left settings to get the section you want (or drag in to position in the preview monitor)

I prefer no 2 as the Section option often gets changed when you then use the Size/Position dialog to make a change eg Top or Left position
