Image has black border lines after export

Rico1998 wrote on 1/17/2016, 7:28 AM

Hey, I have a problem with Video Deluxe 16 Plus.

When I export the video to any format, for images which have been shrunk there appear black border lines. I tried images with every format (JPG, PNG) with any amount of transparency and they still appear. They aren't present during editing so I don't even know what to do.

Can you help me please?

PS I know I marked that this question refers to Video Pro X, but actually there is no "Video Deluxe 16 Plus" option...

Hi

Do you actually mean Video Deluxe 16 or 2016?

If 2016 please use the fullname to avoid confusion with the earlier version 16.

I have moved the topic to the correct product section - the product has two names depending on the country of sale ie Video Deluxe is also called Movie Edit Pro.

. . . . for images which have been shrunk there appear black border lines . . . .

We need more information:

  1. What is the projects Aspect Ratio setting ie is it 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen or other ?

  2. Are the images the same aspect ratio as the project?

  3. Can you post a screenshot - cropped - to the Preview monitor -  showing an image with the black lines?

In general if 1 and 2 are different, images will be shrunk to fit either the height or width of the preview monitor - this will result in black bars appearing as follows:

  • 4:3 or 5:4 image in a 16:9 project the image will be scaled to the height of the screen and black bars are to the left and right of the image - this is known as 'Pillar boxing'

  • 16:9 image in a 4:3 project the image will be scaled to the width of the project and black bars will appear top and bottom - this is known as 'Letter boxing'.

To fill the screen completely you will need to crop the images to match the projects aspect ratio - VDL (MEP) has this ability under the Effects tab, View/animation, Section ensure you select the option Like movie in the drop down box in the dialog.

The version is VDL 16. The aspect ratio is 16:9 widescreen.

Above is how it looks like after exporting, because in preview it looks okay:

Aha, and the option "Like movie" has been set automatically, as those yellow and red bars are moving.
