I've got white noise after installing Sound Forge 15

Jonathan-Harwood wrote on 3/3/2022, 10:35 AM

I read a post that said if I deleted the Magix Low Latency 2016 from my registry, that was supposed to solve the problem. It has not. I have a pretty new Windows 11 computer. Why am I getting white noise?

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Jonathan-Harwood,
Have you rebooted the PC and tried a different audio device.. "Options> Preferences> Audio"

Try resetting Sound Forge and clearing the cache. 'File> "Reset all preferences and clear cached data"
.. an alternate or if SF will not launch: hold down the 'Ctrl+Shift' keys, whilst launching SF, which will open the same reset dialog.

Thank you, I have been trying different Audio preferences. The issue is that the white noise is not only in SF. It's across all computer sounds including Apple Music in iTunes. Any time the computer makes a sound or a ding... a burst of white noise at the same time. All audio playback on the PC is accompanied by white noise.

Hi

. . . . The issue is that the white noise is not only in SF. It's across all computer sounds . . . .

Check that the audio enhancements in the Windows audio settings are set to off.

@johnebaker

Yes, it is set to off. This is infuriating! I've been using Sound Forge for as long as I can remember and it always worked on every computer. Not I get a new Windows 11 computer and nothing. I hope I can figure it out.

Does anything think it might have something to do with that other program Ozone that installed with Sound Forge 15, or are the two programs inter-dependent?

@Jonathan-Harwood, are you absolutely sure you deleted the 'Low Latency' registry entry, in this thread,
https://www.magix.info/us/forum/audio-issue--1290482/#ca1738999
The symptoms you describe are exactly that of the Magix Low Latency issue

I have not read any reports of Ozone causing noise issues.

craig-d wrote on 3/4/2022, 1:05 AM

yeah, there's very little chance that Ozone could be the culprit...there hasn't been any case of white noise with ozone that i've been able to find. however, there are a lot of cases of the magix low latency driver causing the white noise, and removing it so far has been the fix for that.

The fact that it is across all sounds tells me that the issue is with Windows drivers for the audio card/chipset/device or the audio/drivers settings.

What is your computer specification, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor, audio chipset/device, and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Try following this article to track down/fix the problem.

Thanks everyone. All of these fixes and topics seem like a lot to go through to get a piece of software to work. I can't even make heads or tails of what the article about specifications is asking @johnebaker. It's from 2011. The other one about troubleshooting is from 2014. Ancient by today's standards. This is a brand new PC and I can purchase several versions of Sound Forge, including 15, right in the app store. I shouldn't have to go through all of this to get software to work. I'm going to use something else.

I do appreciate everyone's help!
