Hi

. . . . Music Maker and looking for a usb keyboard . . . .

I would suggest you visit your nearest music shop that has keyboards, both MIDI controller type and full keyboard instruments which have USB controller capabilities, and have a play with them.

This way you will find what is best for you in terms of key weight, key balance and touch.

I would not recommend a particular make / model because what would suit me may not suit you.

I would recommend however, that you go for one of the well known brands with at least a 49 note velocity sensitive keyboard with Pitch bend and Modulation wheels.

Smaller keyboards eg 25 note ones mean you are having to use pitch up / down buttons to play a wide range of notes.

Hi

. . . . Found a 49 and a 61 key.  61 key only £6 more than the 49.  Is it worth having the greater range? . . . .

If you have the space and are contemplating playing a very wide octave range then the 61 would be ideal.

However if you are short of space or have to move the keyboard regularly then the 49 may be better.

As I suggested before try before you buy.
