i like Fastcut but...

I have the paid version (w/ latest update) of Fastcut Plus Ed and i have a few questions.

1) I like Fastcut but the template library is not very extensive. Is there a library out there where i can download more movie templates with the music?

2) It seems like Fastcut was short lived. Did another auto-editing program take its place?

3) On video playback, both when selecting highlights and during draft play after the template has been mixed in, the video playback is very intermittent and stuttery. Is this a RAM issue with my computer? Specs:

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HK CPU @ 2.90GHz   2.90 GHz
Installed RAM    32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable)
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hi Justin. Welcome to the user to user forums.

The latest introduction to video editing program by Magix is now Video Easy.

The stuttering may be caused by the files if they are from a newer mobile phone as the codecs for them would not be present in the older software. Your computer specs are missing an nvidia graphics card for the new software but not sure if that would make a difference.

You could try the free download.

I have no idea about importing additional templates for that program or Fastcut which appears to be an end of life product. Most of us here are using the larger Magix editing programs (Movie Edit Pro ad Video Pro X) that do have that option but the programs are not as easy to use as Video Easy (although not that much harder) and the machine specifications to run those programs may be more than your present setup has to run smoothly but may make use of your processors Intel® HD Graphics 630 inboard graphics chip. That though may depend on the resolutions you are working at.

Ray.

(shortened for convenience)

After a lil digging, i see my current graphics card is the GeForce GTX 1070. I guess i should look into an upgrade?

Hi Justin.

Heck no. The nvidia card is more than capable.😀

It's more likely that the older program does not have or cannot use the codec required for the source video files you are trying to use or you have not downloaded the latest graphics drivers for your nvidia card. The program must also be using either Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10. If it supported Win 7 then some changes in the current Wind 10 or Win 11 operating systems may have made the program useless.

To get the correct graphics drivers you must check at the nvidia website.

[Edit]

Trying to look up the specs for Fastcut Plus, it does not support HEVC (H265) so will not deal with a lot of newer mobile phone video output if recorded in that format.

@CubeAce thx! Only files being used are from my gopro hero7. Also, using windows 10. Nvidia should be using latest drivers

CubeAce wrote on 2/3/2022, 7:19 PM

@Justin-Fry

Hi.

The GoPro Hero 7 does indeed record to H265 (HEVC).

To know more about such problems using such a codec with earlier video editing programs you can read articles such as this one.

I would suggest updating your program to a newer video editing package if it doesn't work after updating your nvidia graphics driver which should be version.472.47. 1280
