The strict answer to your question is: you can't, or at least not without using a third-party app to adjust the length/pitch/timing of your recorded audio.  This MAY be possible in MEP but is not something I've ever done.

OTOH, if you want to adjust the length of your slide show to match the length of the audio you need to divide the total playing time of your audio (in seconds) by the number of slides you wish to use.  The resulting figure will tell you for how many seconds each slide needs to last.  Then you can manually adjust (by dragging on the timeline) each slide to last the requisite total time (assuming you want each slide to last for the same length!)  You MAY be able to achieve the same effect by changing the default still image display time in MEP's settings, but then ALL your slides will last for exactly the same time span.

I realise that all sounds rather like gibberish but, hopefully, you can get some idea of how to do what you want!

Hi,

As Jeff says, you can't do precisely what you've said, but my approach is very simple. I just import the whole music track and then trim it. Just how to do that varies widely depending on the circumstances. Especially dependent on what other audio, if any, is present on other tracks at the start or the end of the movie. For instance, I might do any of the following:

If the music is longer than the video

1. Trim the start (and fade it in) so that the end coincides with the end of the video.

2. Trim the end (and fade it out) so that the start coincides with the start of the video.

3. Retain both start and end of the music, find one or more mid-way sections where a trim would be unnoticeable because of other audio at that point, and make my trims there, with cross-fading if necessary.

If the video is longer than the music

4. Add one or more additional music tracks and treat at least one of them as described above.

5. If it's important to hear only a single music track, duplicate it at least once and treat at least one of them as described above.

If the difference in length is small

6. Increase/reduce the video by increasing/reducing the duration of the photos, either universally or selectively.

Some feedback would have been appreciated.
