I have no option to create a VST path for my instruments

elias-breidenbach wrote on 1/10/2020, 9:11 AM

Hi, I have been using MMM15 for a few years now, but just recently, the option to reset or change my vst path has completely disappeared. I have tried accessing this option through the "new instrument" button on the far left of the screen and through the project settings, but neither even has vst buttons anymore.

I don't know what happened, but I got some new instruments for Christmas, and I REALLY want to use them, but I can't. Please help!

@elias-breidenbach

MMM15 is now a very old version of the program, the current latest is 28.0.2.47. That being the case, my suspicion is that, assuming you are running Windows 10, a recent Windows Update may have rendered MM no longer compatible.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling. This tutorial will guide you through the steps you must take in order to ensure a complete removal of the old installation before attempting the reinstall but I have to confess I am doubtful whether it will work, sorry!

Hi

Please do not abbreviate year numbers in the programs name - this causes confusion over which release you have, from your previous posts I see you mean MMM 2015.

From the images it looks like you are running the Basic version of MMM 2015 which does not support VST paths.

What is the full name and version number of MMM2015 as found under Help, About...?

Have you re-installed the program recently?

I recently updated my software to Magix Music Maker 2018, but the option to add new instruments still isn't present.

@elias-breidenbach

You were asked by @johnebaker to say exactly which version of MM 2015 you have, but you did not provide an answer.

Did you also notice John said he believed you were running the Basic version (now called the Free version) of Music Maker? Simply updating to the 2018 version is not going to make any difference to whether you can add new instruments since, unless you have chosen to upgrade to either the Plus or Premium variants the Free version still lacks the facility you are seeking.

Oh I’m sorry, I am using Music Maker version 25.1.0.59. I bought the premium version of the software, which included the option to reset a vst path initially.

emmrecs wrote on 3/4/2020, 11:43 AM

@elias-breidenbach

When you bought the Premium edition you should have received a serial key which you need to enter on the Help>Activated content screen. Did you do this? If not, your edition will revert to the Free version, without the facility to set a VST path.

Is there any reason why you updated/upgraded to version 25 when the latest is 28?

I entered the serial number when I first started the software, and when I updated it, I entered it again and it said I had already activated everything that could be activated with it.

Hi

. . . . I entered it again and it said I had already activated everything that could be activated with it . . . .

I suspect you have not downloaded and re-installed all the extra content after the upgrade to 25.1.0.59.

How would I go about doing that?

johnebaker wrote on 3/4/2020, 2:23 PM

@elias-breidenbach

Hi

There have been several variants of where the downlod extras option is in the recent versions of Music maker. IIRC the option will be either:

  • Under Help, Update/upgrade features or Download extra content
  • in the Store tab click the gear and select Download purchased content
  • the Download tab, if there is one, next to the Store tab

I've updated the software, but the issue is still there.

Thank you so much for your time, by the way! I really appreciate the help.

emmrecs wrote on 3/5/2020, 3:49 AM

@elias-breidenbach

I've updated the software

But did you also do as John suggested and ensure you have downloaded ALL the additional content to which your purchase of Premium entitles you and which does NOT install automatically without user intervention?

@elias-breidenbach

Did you do as John EB told you to do? Download and install everything under the Downloads tab?

Do you know how to see the Media Pool with the Store?

Which version are you using? See under Help, About.

Once you have everything, go to the Project Settings and you can add more tracks.

I have downloaded all of the content I can via the store tab under "download all purchased content" and am using version 25.1.0.59. I am not looking to add more tracks though, I want to be able to add more instruments to the software itself. I need to be able to update my vst path so I can expand my library, but the option to do that isn't there.

Graham-Hawker wrote on 3/9/2020, 4:32 PM

Which features have you added from the store? You need Creative Suite to get vst support.

elias-breidenbach wrote on 3/9/2020, 4:34 PM

I added the ability to add up to 99 instruments in one piece, and 8 free instruments from the store, and free soundloops also.

Graham-Hawker wrote on 3/10/2020, 3:33 AM

You can add six features from the store but you've only mentioned one. (Soundpools and instruments are not features). I think you need to add more features including Creative suite.

elias-breidenbach wrote on 3/10/2020, 8:15 AM

Thank you so much!! That did it. I didn't realize that I needed to reinstall that feature.
