Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus. Normally my 4:3 video fill out automatically via the DVD player but I gues because of the mix of 16:9 and 4:3 I see the side black bars when playing on DVD.

qoqiq,

Simply start your project as 16:9 and drag in your 4:3! You may be prompted that the clip doesn't match the project but don't alter it. You will see you 4:3 material in the center of the screen with black bars on either side.

Many choices from there eg: You can go to Effects >>Movement effects >> Section/zoom and select parts of it to fill the screen. Alternately use Effects >>Movement effects >> Size and position and make it small enough to have several 4:3 tiles within the frame (stack the 4:3 clips on different timelines). A friend regularly fills the black side bars with complementary images or color such as diffuse sections of background material from the 4:3 clip like foliage or water. These can be stills or even including movement -- usually very slow changes or things get too busy.

Hope this help you get started.
