I currently have some AVI videos saved under MAGIX 2016. I can play them individually, they are almost 3 minutes long, but when I try to move them to the edit board they shorten to 26 seconds long.

Usually this is because they are recorded with a variable framerate which is not accepted by MEP 2016.

You can check this with MediaInfo - analyse one of the clips and then post the results from the Tree view of the program.
